John Magill is Eliminated!

John Magill
John Magill
Irishman John Magill, 12th place in the World Series Main Event in 2006 has just been eliminated. He made a flush on the river and checked to his opponent who put him all in. John called in a flash only to be shown a bigger flush.

"I am getting plenty of luck lately, just all bad..." said the amicable businessman as he left the building.

Lee Jones, Celebrity Waiter

Former PokerStars poker room manager turned EPT Host Lee Jones has taken on some additional duties this afternoon and can be seen here serving apples to some fellow co-workers.

We'll take some oranges and lemonade on your next round, Lee!

Tournament Tidbits

Inside the RDS' Makeshift Poker Room
Inside the RDS' Makeshift Poker Room
Ben "The Milky Bar Kid" Grundy is playing quite well, seated two seats to the right of WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater. On my last pass, I watched him scoop an 18,000 pot after shoving all in on a {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{A-Spades} flop. Currently, Grundy has just under 30,000 in chips.

For whatever reason, the two projection screens that display up-to-the-minute tournament data have gone black. We think there are approximately 15 minutes left in the round.

As was the case yesterday, the tournament area has become more and more crowded as the day's gone on. The room is absolutely massive, but everyone seems to be squeezed into a small area in the center of the room. Getting from one side of the room to the other is kind of like trying to get to the bathroom in an Irish pub, except without the beer... and the smoke... and the music... and... ok, maybe it's not like an Irish pub - but it's getting crowded up in here!

Thomas Wahlroos Eliminated

Thomas Wahlroos
Thomas Wahlroos
Walking past his table, we just missed the hand, but we got the soup from a bystander who said Thomas lost to an opponent who had pocket kings. There were possible straight and flush draws on the board, but the kings were good. Wahlroos mucked his cards.

Julian Thew Lets One Go!

Julian Thew
Julian Thew
The most recent EPT champion, Julian Thew was just forced off a pot by Richard Ashby. The board read {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Julian bet 1,200 into a 2,000 pot, Richard raised to 2,800 and Julian reluctantly let it go.

At the break Julian revealed to me that he failed to recreate the start he had in his Baden win because of the larger chip stack, despite his best efforts. He was down to 5,000 after two levels in Austria, this time he only managed to lose 3,000 by the break leaving himself on 12,000, more than double the amount. Who say's poker players are not superstitious?
