Lots of Agression

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

Scott Seiver brought us up to speed with a big hand between Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel and Justin Bonomo. Phil Ivey raised to 3,000, Duhamel three-bet to 10,000 from the small blind and last year's winner four-bet from the big blind to 21,000. Ivey folded and Duhamel proceeded to five-bet to 35,000. Bonomo made the call.

The flop brought out {8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Duhamel bet 26,000, Bonomo called. On the turn the {A-Spades} hit and this time Duhamel checked to Bonomo who bet 37,000. The 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event winner eventually decided to fold giving Bonomo this big pot.

Bonomo Gets There and Busts Ivey

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Last year's champion, Justin Bonomo, just stormed his way to 550,000 in chips after busting Phil Ivey from the tournament, but it wasn't without a bit of luck to give Bonomo the win.

Bonomo, Ilya Bulychev and Ivey put in 10,000 each preflop with Ivey in position. The flop came down {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, and action was checked by Bonomo and Bulychev in that order before Ivey fired 15,000. Bonomo called, then Bulychev folded.

The turn was the {K-Clubs}, and this was where the fireworks shot off. First, Bonomo checked, which seemed pretty innocent, until he check-raised all in after Ivey bet 40,000. Ivey quickly called with the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a set of sevens. Bonomo had the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a double gutter and flush draw.

Needing any diamond that didn't pair the board, a nine or a five, Bonomo found what he needed when the dealer ripped off the {5-Clubs} on the river. That gave him a straight, and Ivey was left felted.

Ivey was up and out of his chair immediately and made a straight shot for the exit of the venue. He'll still have all day today and until play begins tomorrow to re-enter, so we'll keep you posted on what he decides.

Double Shot of Smirnov for Stern

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dani Stern
Dani Stern

Mikhail Smirnov is the second player to bust today and the Russian took his defeat with grace and a big smile.

He had 142,500 chips when he committed them all pre flop with {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Dani Stern was his opponent in the hand and came along for the ride with {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}. The board ran {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Clubs} to give Stern the bigger pair despite falling behind on the flop.

Seeing as Smirnov was seen pulling out wads of cash and chips from a satchel shortly after going broke, it is expected he'll be back in the action very soon.

Bulychev Eliminated by Seiver

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Scott Seiver just explained to us how he eliminated Ilya Bulychev. The Russian player raised to 5,000, Seiver three-bet to 12,000 and the other players folded. Bulychev moved all in for 45,000 and Seiver made the call.

Bulychev turned over {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and was up against {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. The flop brought a nine but a king hit the turn to put Seiver back in the lead. The river brought a blank and Bulychev was the second player to get knocked out.

Bonomo Takes Down Duhamel

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

In a matter of orbits we've seen three eliminations at the same table as Justin Bonomo just knocked out Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel. Bonomo explained how Duhamel raised under the gun to 4,000, he three-bet to 11,000 and the action was folded back to the Canadian.

Duhamel proceeded to four-bet to 19,200 and that gave Bonomo to option to put his opponent all in. Last year's winner pulled the trigger and put Duhamel all in for 67,000. Duhamel called with {10-}{10-} bust lost against Bonomo's {q-}{Q-}.

Watson Fills Up Against Quoss' Flopped Straight

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With 27,600 in the middle on the {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, Mike Watson checked to his opponent, Fabian Quoss. Quoss tossed out a red T25,000 chip, but it was unknown if he verbally bet a different amount or fired the entire 25,000. Watson check-raised to 51,000, and Quoss tanked for a bit before moving all in for around 200,000. Watson called.

Watson had flopped middle set with the {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} — the second time he has flopped a set of eights today that we have witnessed. Quoss had him beat, though, with the {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a flopped ten-high straight.

The turn was the {10-Spades}, keeping Quoss in front with his straight. The river delivered a card in favor of Watson, though, when the dealer finished off the board with the {7-Spades}. Watson had more chips than Quoss, meaning Quoss was eliminated.

After being eliminated, Quoss sought out the tournament director and asked if he had to re-enter right away or if he could wait. Quoss was informed he could re-enter anytime up until the start of play on Day 2, and then he left the building. We'll let you know if he returns.

Watson moved to 610,000 in chips, and has had some success in big events like this one before. At the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe, Watson won the €50,000 Majestic High Roller for €1,000,000. Prior to that, he took third in the €50,000 Super High Roller at EPT Barcelona that Dan Smith won to kick off this season. For that finish, Watson scored €399,500.

Blom Somehow Finds Value

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Maybe only Viktor Blom could've found value in the hand he played out with Sergii Baranov and Justin Bonomo.

The latter opened to 4,500 from the hijack and was called by Baranov in the next seat before Blom squeezed to 16,500 from the button. Both players made a quick call to see the {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop where Blom continued for 18,600. Both players called before all three went on to check the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} turn and river through.

Blom opened {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and both opponents worked.

"Wow!" said Scott seiver. "Good game guys!"
