Fitzgerald Fizzles Out

Level 7 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

The pot had grown to a size of 15,500 when the action was caught on the turn. Shane Holohan checked from early position to Dara Fitzgerald on the button. Fitzgerald bet 5,000 and, after informing how much Fitzgerald had behind, Holohan made the call.

The two saw the {j-Spades} river fall and Holohan quickly led all in, covering Fitzgerald's 11,500 remaining chips. Fitzgerald reluctantly put in the rest of the chips, predicting that his opponent had hit the river.

Fitzgerald was right, as the river made Holohan a full house with {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Fitzgerald was in the lead until the river with his {a-}{k-}, but the final card changed his destiny and he swiftly left the table. Meanwhile, Holohan is sitting on a very healthy stack of more than three times the average.

Otto Sniffs Out Bluff and Busts Spragg in Four-Bet Pot

Level 7 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Marle Spragg
Marle Spragg

Ryan Otto opened the action from the cutoff by raising to 1,200. Marle Spragg was on the button and made it 3,600 to go, which Otto upped to 10,000 once the action folded back around to him. Spragg obliged and put in the necessary chips to see a flop.

The flop was {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Otto put out a continuation-bet of 4,500, which Spragg quickly called. The {5-Hearts} turn saw little action, as both players checked.

On the {8-Hearts} river Otto checked to Spragg once more. This time, she announced ''all in''. Otto asked for an exact count, and the dealer told him Spragg's stack was worth 27,500 chips. After some time in the tank Otto made the call, covering Spragg. Both players had to show their cards.

Marle Spragg: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Ryan Otto: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The ace-high hero call was good for Otto, as Spragg could not show anything higher than her jack-high. Spragg quickly left the tournament area while Otto remained on the table, stacking her chips.

Sinclair Falls Into Trap

Level 6 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Jack Sinclair has joined the fray and was involved in a pot against Tom Dunne. Dunne had limped from under the gun, and Sinclair raised to 1,500 in middle position.

The action folded back to Dunne, who limp-raised to 5,000. Sinclair made the call and the two saw a flop.

On {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} Dunne put out a bet of 20,000, just enough to cover Sinclair's stack. Sinclair did not have to think long before he folded. The renowned UK player is not off to the best start, but still has plenty of chips to play with.

Chan Folds Correctly in Friendly Showdown

Level 6 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Colm Chan
Colm Chan

Colm Chan opened the action from early position with a raise to 1,000. Liam Durnin was in the hijack and upped the ante to 2,500 before it folded back to Chan. Chan put in the extra chips, and the two saw a flop.

The dealer put out {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades} and Durnin continuation-bet for 3,000 chips after a check from Chan. Chan quickly called, and the two saw the {7-Clubs} appear.

Chan checked to the last aggressor again, and this time Durnin put out a sizable 11,000. Chan forwarded his cards hesitatingly, prompting Durnin to say ''If you show, I show''. Chan showed his {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and saw that he made the correct laydown when Durnin kept his word and turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for the higher overpair.

The Shoe Does Not Fit Stepuchin

Level 5 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante
Frank Stepuchin
Frank Stepuchin

Frank Stepuchin raised to 700 from under the gun and button Daniel Tighe put in a three-bet to 2,500. Stepuchin called, and the two were off to a flop.

The {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop saw Tighe continuation-bet for 1,500 after a check from Stepuchin. Stepuchin then put in the check-raise to 4,700. which Tighe called.

The {j-Diamonds} saw Stepuchin slowed down as he opted for a check, after which Tighe put out a bet of 10,000. Stepuchin inquired about his opponent's shoes and took a quick peek under the table. Evidently, he found something there to convince him to fold, as he let his hand go a few moments later.

Tighe raked in the pot and showed his opponent that his shoe-reading abilities still have room for improvement, as he tabled the {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

Winther Plays it by the Book, Triples Up

Level 5 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante
Orjahn Winther
Orjahn Winther

There were three players involved in a pot of around 7,000. They were already on a flop of {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} when big blind James O'Sullivan bet 3,000 after a check from small blind Liam Durnin. Orjahn Winther then shoved all-in for his last 9,300 chips from middle position. Durnin mulled it over for a while before putting in a cold-call.

O'Sullivan did not deem the amount high enough yet, and put in a three-bet to 24,300. This was enough for O'Sullivan to relinquish his hand, and the other two players went to showdown.

Orjahn Winther: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
James O'Sullivan: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The two pair of Winther were ahead and remained so as he filled up on the {k-Spades}{3-Hearts} runout, resulting in a triple up to more than starting stack for him.

Interestingly, while the entire hand was happening, Winther rarely looked up from the book he has been seen reading throughout the tournament, seemingly more enthralled by the pages than the pot.
