Molenaar Thrives in His Post-Bubble Era

Level 18 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Michel Molenaar
Michel Molenaar

Michel Molenaar was spotted on the bubble with less than 100,000 chips, but on a revisit to his table he was found with more than quadruple that amount.

His latest winning came from a three-way pot with Daniel Turner and Cole Maguire. Turner had opened the action from middle position with a raise to 12,000 and both Molenaar and Maguire called, from the button and small blind respectively.

The flop of {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} got checked through before Molenaar was the first one to bet on the {5-Clubs} turn. 20,000 was the amount to call and only Turner obliged.

On the {6-Hearts} river Turner checked for the third time this hand. Molenaar fired for slightly less than the pot and put 65,000 chips in the middle. Turner quickly called and Molenaar showed {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for top pair. Evidently, that was enough to rake in the pot, as Turner gave his cards to the dealer face-down.

Thompson Busts Xanthopoulos; Plays Three Times Average

Level 18 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Gary Thompson
Gary Thompson

On a completed board of {9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and a pot of 150,000 to contend for, cutoff Gary Thompson had put button Pavlos Xanthopoulos all-in for slightly more than the pot.

Xanthopoulos was deep in the tank for his 165,000 stack but ultimately made the call.

Pavlos Xanthopoulos: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Gary Thompson: {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Xanthopoulos flopped the world with trip nines, but Thompson crushed his dreams by hitting a straight on the river.

Thompson stacked the big pot on top of his already impressive stack while Xanthopoulos was escorted to the payout area. Xanthopoulos is one of the 35 players we have already lost in the traditional post-bubble madhouse.

Benjamin Spragg
Benjamin Spragg

Benjamin Spragg was maneuvering a short stack during the bubble, and got his final 55,000 chips in versus Arto Mansner not long after it burst.

Mansner had raised from early position, before Spragg moved all-in from the cutoff. Mansner called and their hands were tabled.

Benjamin Spragg: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Arto Mansner: {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Spragg faded all picture cards on the {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts} runout and lives to fight another day.

Graydon and Pelkonen Bust Bubble; Split Min-Cash

Level 18 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Olli Pelkonen
Olli Pelkonen

Dealers announced all ins and calls at two tables. Once all other hands had finished, players flipped their cards to see who would bust the bubble.

On table eight, Olli Pelkonen moved all in from under the gun with a short stack and Gavin Keane called in the big blind. Pelkonen was at risk.

Olli Pelkonen: {k-Spades}{2-Spades}
Gavin Keane: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Keane had Pelkonen dominated before the flop. The board ran out {2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The flop brought Pelkonen a pair of deuces and moans and groans were audible throughout the room. The turn gave Keane the pair of tens to bring him back ahead. Keane held up and Pelkonen busted.

Over on table nine, the second all in was being dealt. Colum Horan had raised from middle position and Michael Graydon moved all in for 50,000 from the button. Horan had Graydon well covered and made the call. Players flipped their cards.

Michael Graydon: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Colum Horan: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board came {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Graydon's pocket jacks held on the flop. However, the {5-Diamonds} on the turn gave Horan the straight and left Graydon drawing to a split. Horan held up and Graydon was also eliminated.

Pelkonen and Graydon both busted the money bubble on the same hand and will split the min-cash, each taking €990.
