Jose "Nacho" Barbero was short-stacked with 18,500 and opted to push them all-in when action folded to him in the hijack. The big blind looked at his cards and then made the call:
Barbero:
Big Blind:
Barbero needed help and looked like he would get it when the appeared as the door card; however, it was followed by the and , giving the big blind a pair of aces. The on the turn and on the river changed nothing and Barbero, who took the LAPT by storm by winning back-to-back titles at LAPT Punta del Este and LAPT Lima, would not be winning his third title of the season.
Matthias Habernig has been amassing some chips as of late. Most recently, he used his big stack to bully the blinds by raising to 4,100 from the button. Both his opponent folded and he took down the blinds and antes. There are still plenty of players remaining, but Habernig has positioned himself to make a run at back-to-back LAPT titles!
Christian de Leon is PokerStars newest Team Pro from Mexico. He's also the latest player to hi the rail. We don't know what happened, but his currently relating the sad tale to some Spanish-speaking media.
When asked him to repeat the saga in English, he abbreviated, "I decided to put my chips in in a very weird spot." He wasn't proud of the bluff since he'd played his ten big blinds patiently all day, only to dust off his chips as soon as he built to 25 bigs. Leon got it in with , but his opponent didn't fold as hoped. Instead he called with to relegate Christian to the busto list.
Lynn Gilmartin caught up with Christian yesterday about his poker career and the perks of his new elite status on the PokerStars Team Pro lineup:
Seat 2 raised to 4,500 from middle position and was called by the player in the hijack. Jose "Nacho" Barbero then moved all-in for about 50,000 from the big blind, putting the pressure back on his opponents. The original raiser folded and, after a few moments, so did the hijack. Barbero swiped the pot and is sitting with about 60,000.
There was about 45,000 in the pot with a board reading . Action was checked to Terrence Chan, who bet 14,000. His sole opponent called but mucked when Chan turned over .
Chan was up to around 125,000, but dropped back below the 100k mark the very next hand after losing a pot. His jacks were second best and doubled an opponent with who hit the board hard. They got it in on the flop, and though he turned a flush draw, the river was a brick.
Yesterday, the action was Fast and Furious. And this morning, it was 2 Fast 2 Furious. But this afternoon there is a lull in the speed of play. After the bubble bursts, we'll get to Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift. For now, however, things are slowing to a Herbie Fully Loaded pace.
Jose "Nacho" Barbero raised to 4,200 preflop and Maria Mayrinck moved all-in for her last 17,000 from the big blind. When the cards were turned over, it was a classic race:
Barbero:
Mayrinck:
The in the window caused Mayrinck to let out a little cheer, but it was premature as it was followed by the and . Suddenly Mayrinck was in big trouble, needing runner-runner to win.
The on the turn gave her some hope. "Sweat," Barbero said as he let a smile creep across his face. The table waited anxiously as the dealer burned and put the on the river. Mayrinck's day came to an end while Barbero is up to 50,000.
