Tiny Hit to Fischman's Big Stack

Scott Fischman was in middle position and raised to 2,500. Only the player in the cutoff called as the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Fischman bet 3,000 and the cutoff made the call.

Fischman continued his aggression when the {10-Clubs} hit the turn by betting 5,500, which the cutoff called. When the {J-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Fischman slowed down with a check, the cutoff bet 5,000, and Fischman insta-mucked. Although he lost that one, Fischman is still in great shape with 225,000.

Overton Doubles Through Aguiar

Action folded to the blinds and Aaron Overton, who was in the big blind, ended up all in for around 24,000 against Jonathan Aguiar.

Aguiar: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Overton: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Overton was in good shape to double up and furthered his lead when the flop fell {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The {7-Hearts} turn and {4-Spades} river changed nothing and Overton doubled to around 53,000. Meanwhile, Aguiar took a hit and is down to 42,000.

Aguiar is the only person to have cashed in all NAPT Main Event but will need a strong showing today if he is to keep that streak alive.

Astrolux Burns Out

Brent "Astrolux85" Roberts appears to be the most recent victim of Day 2. We didn't see the hand that did him in, but we did spot him walking out the doors with his backpack on, relating the story of his demise to some poor soul on the other end of the line.

Nguyen Doesn't

Kenny Nguyen
Kenny Nguyen

We understand Kenny Nguyen lost most of his chips after running his pocket jacks into two aces preflop. That left him with under 20,000, and we just watched him lose most of those as well.

Gerald Jenkinson opened the pot with a raise, and he called a three-bet from Nguyen to go heads up to the flop. It came {3-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, and Jenkinson led out with 3,000. Nguyen called, and he called another 6,000 on the {5-Diamonds} turn. Jenkinson checked the {3-Clubs} river, and Nguyen bet 3,000 of the 4,300 he had left. Jenkinson quickly called, and Nguyen grinned as his hand was caught in the cookie jar. He showed up his {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} miss, and his opponent's {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} were good enough to knock Kenny down to just 1,300.

Four hands later, Nguyen put his last 900 in the pot, announcing, "Raise it!" despite not even having enough for the full big blind. He had {K-Clubs} {10-Spades}, and he was unable to stay alive as an opponent's {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} made trip aces on the turn and river.

GG, Kenny.

DeBora's Rough Start

Action folded to Romulus Segal and he limped in from the cutoff seat. Team PokerStars Pro Canada member Greg DeBora limped from the cutoff seat and then Ronnie Bardah completed from the small blind. Jim Meehan checked after weighing his options in the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Bardah checked. Meehan bet out 1,900 and Segal called. DeBora then put in a raise to 5,500. Bardah mucked and Meehan followed suit. Segal took some time with his decision and then moved all in, putting the pressure on DeBora. The Canadian pro thought for a little bit and then tossed his hand away.

A few hands later, Segal raised from early position to 3,800. DeBora flat-called in the next seat before action fell on Ryan Schmidt. He three-bet to 13,000. Everyone folded including Segal and action fell back on DeBora. The Team PokerStars Canada pro thought for several minutes and then fired back with a raise to 38,800. Schmidt called and was all in for 31,200.

Schmidt: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
DeBora: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} and DeBora lost the pot. He began the day with 66,700, but has about a third of that left with 22,000. Not the start DeBora was looking for.

Brikis Times Two

Josh Brikis
Josh Brikis

We've got limited info for this hand, but we do know that Josh Brikis has just doubled up. His opponent's {8-Spades} {10-Spades} made a straight, but Brikis' {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} made a bigger one, and he's up to 75,000 here in the early going.

Affleck's Push and Take

Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

Action folded to Ben Klier in the hijack and he put in a raise to 2,800, which Josh Brikis called from the cutoff. Matt Affleck was in the small blind and moved all in for right around 23,000.

"That's what I like to see," tablemate Phil "The Unabomber" Laak said. Action folded back to Klier who instantly folded. Brikis did the same after some thought and Affleck took down the pot, bringing him up to around 30,000.

Nguyen Not Winning

With about 6,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Kenny Nguyen checked to Pablo Martinelli in Seat 4 who bet 4,000. Nguyen made the call and watched the {K-Spades} hit the turn. He checked and Martinelli fired out 10,000. Once again Nguyen called and the {7-Hearts} appeared on the river. This time Nguyen led out for a bet of 7,200 and Martinelli called.

Nguyen: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Martinelli: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

Nguyen lost the hand and dropped down to just 13,000. Not a great start to his day. "It is a good thing I didn't go broke on that hand," Nguyen said after the hand.
