Markholt Coolers Gruneberg

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Lee Markholt raised to 250 to start off the action and Zach Gruneberg reraised. Markholt four-bet and Gruneberg called, although the three-bet and four-bet amounts were unknown to us.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Markholt checked. Gruneberg also checked and the dealer placed the {9-Clubs} out on the turn to pair the board. Markholt checked again and Gruneberg bet 2,275. Markholt called.

The river completed the board with the {5-Hearts} and Markholt checked again. Gruneberg checked back at his hand and then reached for some chips. He bet 3,875. Markholt counted out the chips to make the call, but before he put them into the middle he added 8,000 on top for a raise to 11,875. Gruneberg announced a call shortly thereafter.

Markholt tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} for aces full of nines. Gruneberg showed the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} for top two pair. Markholt was pushed the pot and moved to about 55,000 in chips. Gruneberg was knocked down to 12,000 in chips.

Bax Chipping Up

Cliff Josephy
Cliff Josephy

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy finished in seventh place in the 2010 North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun for $85,000 and is off to a nice start this year.

We caught up with the action on a board of {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Spades} and a player had checked to Josephy. He fired 1,300, receiving a call from his opponent. The {J-Clubs} landed on the river and once again action was checked to Josephy. After a few moments, "Bax" fired a bet of 3,000. His opponent quickly called, but saw the bad news when Josephy tabled {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for a flush, increasing his stack to about 37,000 in the process.

Party Time

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

There has been a change to the schedule for the day. Instead of playing ten levels with a dinner break after the sixth, the tournament staff has decided to shorten the length of play to eight levels and cut out the dinner break. That should get everyone out of here around 9:00 PM EST instead of midnight.

You know what that means? Party time!

Welcome to NAPT Mohegan Sun!

Welcome to Mohegan Sun for this stop on the North American Poker Tour. It's Season 2 and the NAPT is making a return to Uncasville, Connecticut after a very successful Season 1 stop. At this stop last year, Vanessa Selbst conquered a field of 716 players to take home the whopping $750,000 first-place prize!

This stop at Mohegan marks only the second of the season. The first stop was in the Bahamas for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure back in January. The second stop was planned for The Bike in Los Angeles, but some legal issues causes PokerStars and the NAPT to pull out of the event, making this stop the official second stop on Season 2. It's expected to be a very large field packed with some of the best players in the world and we can't wait to see things kick off.

Start time for the $5,000 Main Event will come at 12:00 PM EST. There's only one Day 1 flight scheduled for this five-day event, so Salon A of the Uncas Ballroom in the Convention Center should be jam packed from wall to wall. The plan for Day 1 is to play through 10 levels with dinner break coming after the sixth level. That should get us out of here just before midnight tonight local time as the levels are 60 minutes long with a 15-minute break coming after every two levels.

Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for live coverage straight from the tournament floor here in Connecticut for the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event!
