Selbst Stumbles

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Vanessa Selbst limped in from the small, and Dan Shak took a free flop from the big.

The board ran ended up reading {Q-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {10-Hearts} by the end. Shak called bets of 28,000 on the flop, 63,000 on the turn, and 157,000 on the river. At showdown, his {Q-Spades} {7-Clubs} was best, and collecting that pot allows him to recoup those losses from a few minutes ago and climb to 1.48 million.

Selbst still has 2.4 million chips, but it may not be good for the chip lead anymore. Tyler Kenney is right there with her, and it's tough to tell who's got the mightier stack at this point.

Five Bets to Win

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

From the button, Steve O'Dwyer opened to 52,000, and Tyler Kenney three-bet to 140,000 total. In the big blind, David Stefanski stuck in a cold four-bet, making it 250,000 total. That folded O'Dwyer without incident, but the five-bet came from Kenney. He shoved in with the covering stack, and Stefanski cut his losses and ducked out. He's got 848,000 left, while Kenney is charging toward the top with 2.21 million now.

Rubianes All In

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante
Vincent Rubianes
Vincent Rubianes

First in from the hijack seat, Vincent Rubianes opened to 50,000, and Dan Shak three-bet big to 280,000 from the button. Rubianes' response? An all-in four-bet for 578,000. Shak called with his big stack, and the two men were flipping for 1.2 million chips.

Showdown
Rubianes: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Shak: {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

The {A-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} flop was fine news for Rubianes' bid to double up, catching his pair to take a big lead with two to come. The turn {8-Diamonds} was safe, and the river {J-Clubs} secured his double up, knocking Shak down to 1.32 million.

Hoglund Jr. Can't Shake Kenney

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

On the last hand before the break...

Steve O'Dwyer opened to 48,000 from the cutoff seat, and Tyler Kenney flatted on the button. In the big blind, Thomas Hoglund Jr. squeezed in a raise to 140,000, and now only Kenney continued with another call.

Heads up, the two men took a {7-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} flop. Hoglund Jr. continued out with 150,000 more chips, and Kenney was right there with the call. The action repeated on the {4-Diamonds} turn with Kenney calling another 150,000, and both men checked the {5-Diamonds} river. Kenney showed {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} for top pair, and Hoglund Jr. mentioned something about making a move as he flashed his airball {3-Spades} {5-Clubs}. "The turn made it interesting," he said, but his chips didn't like that pot very much at all. He's left with 335,000 now, while Kenney climbs all the way up to 1.85 million.

Break

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

That's another level in the books, and our 11 remaining players are off for a 15-minute break. The next time you look, a fresh batch of chip counts will have magically appeared.

Overton Slips; Fernandez Doubles

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Jacobo Fernandez raised to 40,000 from the small blind, and Aaron Overton shoved dark. Fernandez had {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}, and he quickly called all in for 199,000. Overton's {2-Clubs} {8-Clubs} wasn't much, but he did have two live cards with which to gun for the knockout.

The {7-Spades} {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} flop let Fernandez breathe a sigh of relief, and the turn {3-Clubs} and river {7-Hearts} allowed him to double up with aces up. He's back to 410,000 now, while the slide continues for Aaron Overton. It's been a tough day for the man who started Day 4 in second place, and he's left with just 140,000 chips now.

Kenney and the Queens

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

From the cutoff seat, Steve O'Dwyer opened to 48,000, and he called a three-bet to 115,000 from Tyler Kenney. Kenney was in position for the {A-Spades} {3-Spades} {9-Spades} flop, and both men checked to see the {8-Spades} turn. Check-check it went one more time, and O'Dwyer checked a third time on the {5-Hearts} river. Kenney took his cue to bet 125,000 at the pot, and O'Dwyer made the call to see what was what.

Kenney turned up {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for the second nuts, and O'Dwyer mucked, slipping to 1.08 million. Kenney essentially traded stacks with his opponent on that hand, up to 1.45 million now.
