Glantz Gone

Frank Fratzola opened for 1,500 from middle position and picked up a couple of callers behind him in Theo Tran and John Chapman. It then folded around to a short-stacked Matt Glantz who reraised all in from the blinds. Fratzola called the reraise and the others folded.

Glantz: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Fratzola: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

All was fine for Glantz through the {J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop and {Q-Diamonds} turn. But the {A-Diamonds} fell on the river to give Fratzola the better pair, and Glantz has been eliminated.

So Good

Jennifer So
Jennifer So

Jennifer So raised to 1,300 from early position and got four callers, including Theo Tran in middle position. The flop came {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and it checked around to Tran who bet 2,800. All folded around to So who called Tran's bet. The turn was the {4-Clubs}. So checked, Tran bet 3,500 this time, and So called.

The river was the {2-Diamonds}. So rechecked her cards, then bet 11,000. Tran paused a minute, a faint smile on his face, then called the bet. So flipped over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for the nut flush, and Tran nodded as he mucked.

Buzgon Fades For a Chop

A player under the gun opened to 1,500 and Todd Terry called from the next seat over. A player in middle position re-popped it to 4,500 before Dan Buzgon four-bet all in for 15,875. The UTG player folded, as did Terry, before the middle-position player called with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Buzgon tabled {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for big slick as well, but found himself with a sweat when the flop came down {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. The {8-Spades} turn was black, but fine for Buzgon. The {7-Diamonds} completed the board, chopping up the pot.

Busse Busts

Shawn Busse, winner of a WSOP bracelet in a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event in 2010, has been eliminated.

Busse battled with a short stack for much of the afternoon, but just now watched a player limp from early position, then he jammed all in for about 8,000 from the blinds only to be called quickly by the limper. Busse had {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, but his opponent had {A-Spades}{K-Spades}, and when the board rolled out {6-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Busse was knocked out.

Better Two Pair for Pandya

Ketan Pandya continues to accumulate chips here on Day 1b. Just now he was involved in a hand with Robert Bowers. With the board showing {K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Pandya bet 2,700 (about two-thirds of the pot) and Bowers called. The river was the {J-Clubs} and both players checked.

Both players tabled two pair, but Pandya's {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} were better than the {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} of Bowers, and Pandya added a few more to his stack.

Raskin Busts Bergeron

Craig Bergeron - eliminated
Craig Bergeron - eliminated

Lou Procopio opened to 15,000 from the hijack and Micah Raskin three-bet to 4,500 from the cutoff. Action folded to Craig Bergeron in the big blind who four-bet to about 12,000, forcing a fold from Procopio. Raskin called to see the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop where Bergeron went all in for 17,100.

Raskin mulled it over for about 45 seconds before opting to call. Bergeron was caught making a movie with {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and was in awful shape against Raskin's {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. The {9-Clubs} turn and {8-Hearts} officially ended Bergeron's tournament, while upping Raskin's stack to about 260,000.
