Break

The players are now taking a 15-minute break. Hopefully they can catch some fresh air and come back with a little more gamble to avoid this tournament stopping to a standstill.

Gorr Strikes Gold on the River

David Gorr has just doubled up to 875,000 in chips, courtesy of a miracle river card. Minh Nguyen opened the pot with a raise to 42,000 and was reraised by Gorr in the big blind who made it 120,000 to go. Nguyen countered with an all-in reraise and Gorr made the call (429,000):

Showdown:
Gorr: {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}
Nguyen: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Nguyen held the lead in the hand through the turn as the board filled out {8-Spades} {A-Spades} {3-Spades} {5-Clubs}, but the {10-Hearts} popped off on the river, giving Gorr a set for the win.

Nguyen was left with just 193,000 in chips after the hand.

John Dalessandri Eliminated in 15th Place ($9,020)

In a four way limped pot the players took a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

The flop was checked around and the free turn card was the {9-Spades}. Martin Comer fired out 60,000, forcing folds from David Saab and Kenneth Damm, before John Dalessandri moved all in for 141,000 more. Comer insta-called and the cards were tabled.

Comer: {9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Dalessandri: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Dalessandri was caught making a move as Comer held a marginal top pair holding for the lead. The river blanked the {6-Diamonds} and Comer collects the pot to climb to 720,000, as Dalessandri becomes our 15th place finisher, collecting $9,020 for his tournament efforts.

Stephan Fuchs Eliminated in 16th Place ($9,020)

Stephan Fuchs - 16th Place
Stephan Fuchs - 16th Place
Stephan Fuchs has just been eliminated from the main event by James Broom. Here's how the hand went down:

Action folded around to Broom in the small blind who opened with a raise to 40,000. Fuchs then moved all in from the big, a bit worth 190,000. Broom made the call and tabled a pocket pair of nines; Fuchs flipped over the {K-Clubs} {J-Spades}.

Broom spiked a third nine on the {9-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {A-Clubs} flop, and when the {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn, Fuchs was drawing dead.

Broom stacked up 645,000 in chips after the hand.

New vs Old School

An interesting spectactor in the tournament area is WSOP bracelet winner Mark Vos. He called in briefly to visit his buddy Harris Pavlou and wish him good luck. He also mentioned that it was his 25th birthday, although when he went to a club in Melbourne this week he was still asked for his ID!

On the other side of the table Leo Boxell has stopped by to have a chat with David Gorr to wish him good luck in the remainder of the tournament.

Play Slows to a Crawl

We're down to two tables at just past midnight and sixteen players remain. Play seems to be tightening up here in the later stages of the tournament, with the final table in near reach. Ray Sukkar is still sitting atop the leaderboard with just over 1.5 million in chips. Stephan Fuchs currently owns the shortest stack in the field with about 175,000.
