Plumage Surges In Quest To Claim A Second RunGood Title

After eight hours of play, the starting field of 132 was whittled down to a final number of 17 players. Each of them are guaranteed to be in the money for the $600 RGPS Main Event and will return on Day 2, Sunday October 23rd to play for the coveted ring at Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs Iowa.

On the final hand of the flight, it was two-time midwest pro Taylor Howard who was on the bad end of a coin flip, when his ace-queen could not improve against the pocket tens of Michael Basch. Basch went on to bag 290,000, while Howard will have to look to another flight to grab a seat for the second day.

Leading the way is a player who knows about RGPS rings as Derick Plumage bagged a massive 670,000 in the first flight. Plumage was the winner of the RGPS Weekend $420 Main Event, this past August which earned him his first RGPS ring, a seat to the Pro-Am, and $51,888. Having only three lifetime tournament cashes, he looks to make his fourth a big one, putting himself in prime position to make another deep run in a RunGood main event.

Rounding out the podium are Stephen Moy(365,000) and Olufemi Banwo (362,000), the only other players to bag more than 300,000 of the flight. Both have secured themselves a solid bag, each looking for their best RGPS score to date, and a deep run in this event could be the ticket to do so.

Eric Kyle
Kyle was the fourth place finisher in the February iteration of the event, looking for another deep run in this iteration.

Others who found success in this event included Yashveen Mudireddy (262,000), Eric Kyle (229,000), and Greg Poor (122,000). Anthony Kellen found his way to a bag with a single 1,000 left. He will have the option to play other flights in the hope of bagging a higher amount of chips. Players who were less fortunate during the day included Stan Schrier, Ryan Ramsdell, Kaleb Dunn, Emily Berglund, and Jeff Tebben. They will all have the option to play any of the other flights to secure a Day 2 bag.

The second flight began at 6 p.m. Players began the tournament with 30,000 chips with levels beginning at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. Levels will escalate once every 30 minutes, with a 15-minute break occurring every four levels. Play will continue until the field plays down 12.5%, then the remaining players will bag up for Sunday October 23rd where they will all be in the money. Players who do not bag on this flight, will be able to play the following two flights on Saturday, October 22nd.

We will now take a short break between coverage of the flights. Coverage will resume around 8:30. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all updates regarding the $600 RunGood Poker Series Main Event In Council Bluffs Iowa.

Willett Drills The River

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

A player moved all in from first position for 6,000 and in the cutoff, Chad Willett moved all in for 48,000 which folded all remaining action.

Opponent: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Chad Willett: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board was mostly safe for the player holding aces with a runout of {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Spades}, but the river {j-Diamonds} gave Willett a set of jacks and he eliminated his opponent to bring the field closer to bagging for the second day.

Basch Nearly Triples

Michael Basch
Michael Basch

A player in early position raised to 24,000 and was called by Eric Kyle in the cutoff and Michael Basch in the big blind.

The flop of {2-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Hearts} saw Basch moved 80,000 of his 81,000 into the center, which was called by both players.

The turn {k-Clubs} saw Basch check and the early position player moved all in for 200,000 and Kyle folded. Basch put in his remaining 1,000 and the cards were turned over.

Michael Basch: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The river {7-Spades} changed nothing and Basch received what was only 1,000 short of a full triple up.
