The RunGood Poker Series Road Trip $700 Council Bluffs Main Event has seen its first flight of play conclude at The Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This first flight saw 180 entrants come out for their shot at a bag and a piece of the $200,000 guaranteed prizepool. After the dust settled, just 22 players remained with their hopes intact while all others will have to fire one of the following flights.

Leading the way is Cody Bartlett who ended their day with 705,000. Bartlett has been a regular around the Council Bluffs area in poker, with cashes dating all the way back to 2012. In 2021, Bartlett finished runner up in the Council Bluffs main event and with his massive bag here today, he looks to better that finish.

Derrick Plumage
Derrick Plumage bagged the second largest stack in his quest to win a third main event title.

The two time RGPS Council Bluffs champion Derrick Plumage also found himself near the top of the chip counts with 697,000 at days end. With $115,185 in lifetime earnings and over 70% of that coming from RunGood poker stops, Plumage wears not only the crown of two time champion, but also the only player to win back to back rungood stops at the same location. He will be looking to collect a third main event title and his bag has put him in contention to do so.

He looks to add a second main event title to an already stellar year as he recently collected the WSOPC council bluffs main event title.

Not all saw fortune favor them. Players like Kasey Mills, Michael Marder, Mallory Johnson, Mo Nuwwarah, Brian Winter former RGPS Council Bluffs main event champion Nate Steuer and WSOP bracelet winner Blair Hinkle. They will have ample opportunity to play the following two flights tomorrow in their quest to take the title.

Play ended with 25:57 left in Level 16 with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a 10,000 big blind ante. This will be the level that the players return to unless one of the following flights ends earlier than this.
