Smith Gets Creative in the Big Blind

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Two players were fighting for a pot on the turn with about 20,000 in the middle. The board showed {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Peyton Smith was in the big blind and saw the small blind lead for 15,000. He thought for a bit before counting out a raise to 40,000 and sliding it across the middle.

His opponent thought for a bit but decided to toss his cards away. Smith let out a little cheer and flipped over {j-Spades}{5-Spades} for the bluff that took it down.

Jordison Another Victim of Bekavac

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Dan Bekavac

Angela Jordison was trending in the right direction, winning pots and making her way up the leaderboard. Then, the tournament director moved her to a new table to balance. She sat on the left of Dan Bekavac.

One of the first hands she played was in the small blind against a button raise from Dan Bekavac. Jordison reraised from the small blind and the two players each got about 200,000 in before the flop with Jordison at risk.

Dan Bekavac: {a-}{a-}

In the ultimate cooler, Bekavac had the best of it. He found insurance by hitting another ace for a set while Jordison was unimproved and eliminated.

Bekavac is now nearing the one million mark here on Day 1.

Jordison Puts the Pressure On

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Angela Jordison

Action picked up on the flop in a heads-up pot with about 15,000 in the middle. The board showed {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

Angela Jordison found herself in the hijack and in position on her opponent in the small blind. He checked to her, and she bet 7,500. Her opponent made the call.

The turn brought in the {10-Hearts}. The small blind player thought for quite some time, shuffled some chips, but ultimately checked. Jordison ramped up the pressure with a bet of 25,000.

Again, her opponent thought for a bit, counted out his chips, looked like he would play, but finally laid his cards down.

"That was a very dramatic fold,' said Jordison.

"I thought I was ahead," said her opponent.

"Maybe, but for 25k...then there was the river, things were getting out of hand," said Jordison as she raked her pot.

Dighton Takes a Pot

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Joe Barnard raised from late position and found two callers, Charles "Papi" Dighton in the small blind and Angela Jordison in the big blind.

The flop showed up {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs} and all three players checked.

On the {9-} turn, Dighton led for 5,000 and both Jordison and Barnard let their cards go.

Bekavac Strikes Again, Eliminates Two, Has Nearly 20 Percent of the Chips in Play

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Dan Bekavac

A middle position player moved all in for 20,500 before a late position player moved all in himself for 120,500.

Action folded to Dan Bekavac on the button. Of course, he was going nowhere. He made the call to head to a massive three-way all in runout.

As if there was any doubt, Bekavac hit the king on the {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} runout to bust two more and keep winning every key pot he finds himself involved in.

Bekavac Runs Hotter Than the Sun

Jason Mangold open-shoved for 42,000, 21 big blinds, from under the gun +2. Action folded all the way to Dan Bekavac in the big blind who looked down at {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and decided to make the call with his big stack.

Jason Mangold: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Dan Bekavac: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

It looked like Bekavac would finally lose an all in when the {4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} hit the board, giving Mangold a set. The {9-Spades} turn gave Bekavac an open-ender, and the {k-Hearts} river brought that straight draw in to give Bekavac the unlikely win.

"You did not just go backdoor on me," said a shocked Mangold.

A few hands later, an early position player limped before another player moved all in for 32,000 in late position. Bekavac called the 32,000 on the button, and the limper folded after some deliberation.

Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Dan Bekavac: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

"I've got diamonds covered," said the all-in player.

No one was surprised to see Bekavac flop the joint on the {10-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop. He still needed to fade diamonds, which he did on the {q-Spades} turn and {j-Hearts} river.

"Floor, what is going on here, this isn't normal," said a tablemate.

"Sure it is, this happens every tournament, just ask them," said Bekavac.
