The final event in the World Poker Tour Season V will kickoff at noon Saturday at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. A $25,000 buy-in event, this will be a very tough star-studded field and a full week long event.

Day 1 of the WPT Championships is not only broken into two flights, the actual tournament will be hosted in two different rooms at the Bellagio. The poker room will have at least 17 tables with players, while the Fontana Room is packed with the bulk of the tournament players.
Mike Sexton welcomed the players and Lyle Berman spoke to the players in the Fontana Room for a few moments. Berman mentioned how this will be the 100th episode of the WPT.
Day 1A players include Jamie Gold, Barny Boatman, Brad Berman, TJ Cloutier, Kristy Gazes, Rehne Pedersen, David Plastik, Haralabos Voulgaris, Harry Demetriou, Hoyt Corkins, Steve Brecher, Padraig Parkinson, Maureen Feduniak, Jason Lester, Dan Alspach, Joe Sebok, Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy, Mike Woo, Kenna James, Ross Boatman, Shane "Shaniac" Schleger, Jen Harman, John Myung, Barry Greenstein, David "The Dragon" Pham, and Phil Ivey.
Some players spotted at tournament tables in the poker room including Victor Ramdin, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Jeff Madsen, Dan Harrington, Vinny Procopio, Fabrice Soulier, Gavin Smith, and Josh "Billy Madison" Arieh.
There's also a 1K/2K mixed game going on in Bobby's Room. The Poker Shrink reports that Gus Hansen, David Benyamine, Amir Vahedi, and Patrik Antonius are in that game.
Andy Black scooped a 30K pot off of Brian "sbrugby" Townsend. Black, Townsend (from the small blind), and the big blind all limped in. The flop was . Townsend bet 250. The big blind called and Andy Black made it 750 to go. Townsend re-raised to 3K and Black called. The turn was the and Townsend bet out 7.5K. Black called. The spiked on the river and Townsend checked. Black thought for a second and bet 10K. Townsend called as Black tabled and his bottom set of 4s was good. Townsend mucked his cards.
Joe Sebok and Barry Greenstein were originally seated at the same table in the Fontana Room. Barry asked tournament director Jack McClelland if there was a "family rule" that prevent spouses and family members from playing at the same starting tables. McClelland moved Sebok and he does not have to start the WPT Championship at the same table as his father.
