Michael Sortino Sends Two Players Home

Michael Sortino just sent two players to the rail in rare fashion. Sortino, who had both the other players covered, was all in pre-flop with pocket nines. The other players both held A-K. The board helped neither of the men holding Big Slick and Sortino's nines were best.

Bob Slezak
Bob Slezak
Bob Slezak raised to 1,150 from late position. The player on the button reraised to 3,000 and the small blind moved all in while declaring, "Tilt raise." Slezak sighed and then eventually called his remaining chips. The button folded and it was heads-up. Slezak showed {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} and was racing against his opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. The board filled out {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Slezak more than doubled up to around 14,000.

Patrick Kraus Doubles Again

Action folded around to a late-position player who raised to 1,350. Patrick Kraus made the call from the big blind. It was heads-up to a flop of {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Kraus checked, his opponent bet 2,200 and Kraus made the call. The turn brought the {3-Spades}. Kraus again checked and his opponent fired out a bet of 8,000. Kraus moved all in for 11,150 and his opponent made the call. The players showed:

Kraus: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Opponent: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Kraus was shocked to see his opponent's hand but commented, "I've got outs." After righting the pot, the dealer quickly laid down the {J-Hearts} on the river. Kraus yelled triumphantly and then stacked the pot.

Giovanni Marcacci
Giovanni Marcacci
We caught up to this hand on a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}. It was heads-up and Giovanni Marcacci checked to Michael Henrich. Henrich led out with a standard bet and Marcacci moved all in for 5,075 more. Henrich made the call and the players showed:

Henrich: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Marcacci: {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Marcacci seemed resigned to his fate saying, "I need a four or an eight or I'm going home." The turn brought Marcacci more outs coming the {2-Clubs}. Marcacci jumped up and shouted "Club baby!! Club!!" The {K-Clubs} hit the river and Marcacci celebrated. Henrich quietly shook his head as he counted out the call. Marcacci is now working with about 18,000 in chips.
