Terry Quinn Eliminated by Michael Henrich

A short-stacked Terry Quinn was all in pre-flop against Michael Henrich. The players showed:

Quinn: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Henrich: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The flop was dry for both players, coming {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The {Q-Clubs} put Henrich into the lead. The river came the {J-Hearts} and Quinn headed for the rail. A contrite Henrich was classy as he apologized for the three-outer.

Tight is Right

A majority of pots are being won by a pre-flop raise. Twenty minutes into this level a player on table 19 was overheard saying, "We haven't even seen a flop yet!"

Tony Merksick Stays Active

Tony Merksick, playing from the big blind and facing a raise of 1,050 from the cutoff, peeked down at his hole cards. Merksick casually threw out 2,500 chips. The cutoff player smiled and said, "You got me," as he mucked his hand. An expressionless Merksick flashed {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} as he stacked the pot.

Picking Up the Pace

With just seven tables remaining and the blinds and antes increasing considerably over the next three levels, we could see the field reduced to an extremely manageable Day 2.

Slezak Blends In

Bob Slezak
Bob Slezak
When reporting the "notables" in today's event, we somehow overlooked Omaha native and WSOP bracelet winner Bob Slezak. Slezak was keeping a low profile on an outer table and has since been moved. Slezak has a lengthy list of cashes including a WSOP bracelet in Omaha eight-or-better. He is currently with an average 14,000 chips.
