En-guh-land, En-guh-land, En-guh-land

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Brian England is rolling right now. We came back into the tournament room in time to see him at the river against Jon Seaman, {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}. England had first action and bet 125,000. Seaman quickly called with the black 10s, {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. They were no good against England's {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. England continues to lead the tournament and seems to be gaining momentum.

Make My Martini a Double

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

James Martini just doubled up with the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} to Brian England's {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. England had opened to 51,000 and Martini moved all in for 417,000 with England making the call. The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to give Martini the win.

He's up to about 850,000 while England dropped back to 1.3 million.

Bink Goes Dzhigarkhanyan

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

From middle position, Brian England opened to 52,000. Action passed to Stepan "copy and paste" Dzhigarkhanyan in the small blind, who promptly shoved all in for 226,000. England snap-called with {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, in great shape to send Dzhigarkhanyan to the rail in 13th place as Dzhigarkhanyan showed down {7-Clubs}{k-Spades}. But Dzhigarkhanyan "binked" the flop (in the parlance of our times), {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Cue up two more medium cards, {9-Clubs} and {6-Diamonds}, and give the pot to Dzhigarkhanyan. He's up to 460,000. It's only a small dent for England -- he still has 1.7 million.

A Hollywood Double

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Dave Stann
Dave Stann

Jon Seaman raised to 47,000 from late position and Dave Stann came over the top with an all-in shove for 253,000 from the button. Action got back to Seaman and he made the call with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Stann held the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Stann doubled up. Seaman was knocked back to 1.3 million in chips.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
"How good does he run?" asked Adam Hui about Alex Santiago after the hand.
"How good does he run?" asked Adam Hui about Alex Santiago after the hand.

Alex Santiago has shown no hesitation about open-shoving from the button against players in the blinds in the late stages of Day 2. He did it again just a few moments ago. Matthew Leecy, in the big blind, asked Santiago how much he was playing.

"About 300," Santiago replied. Leecy deliberated for another minute and then called the shove with {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Santiago showed {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Neither player connected with a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}, although Santiago did flop an inside straight draw.

"I'll take a 9 please dealer," said Santiago. The {9-Hearts} instantly appeared on the turn.

"Whatever he wants," said Leecy. He was drawing dead and was forced to pay off a double-up of 256,000 chips. That knocked Leecy down to about 200,000 and pushed Santiago up to 525,000.

Casino Champion Race Heating Up

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Adam Hui
Adam Hui

At every WSOP Circuit stop this season, the player who earns himself or herself the most points becomes the Casino Champion and automatically qualifies for the National Championship at the end of the season. That National Championship is a $1,000,000 freeroll tournament, so this is nothing to laugh at as that is some serious cash.

As it stands right now, Blake Kelso leads the race for Casino Champion here at the Caesars Palace Las Vegas stop with 85 points, having cashed three times. The winner of the $1,600 Main Event is automatically qualified for the National Championship, but two players left in this field can still overtake Kelso to claim Casino Champion without winning the event. Those two players are Adam Hui (45 points) and John Kulish (10 points).

Hui needs 40 points to tie Kelso, which means a finish of seventh or higher will get him in. If he comes in seventh, he'll be tied with Kelso, but the tiebreaker is most money won at a specific tour stop. Kelso has won $19,379 total at this stop and seventh place alone is worth $22,820, which would give Hui the nod. For Kulish, he needs to finish in second or better. If he comes in second, he'll be tied with Kelso, but with second place being worth nearly $95,000, he'll also win the tiebreaker.

Of course, if either of these two reach the mark they need to, Kelso will be rooting for them to go onto win so he can still win Casino Champion honors. There is also the scenario that either Hui or Kulish could win the event and the other player earn enough points to pass or tie Kelso and become Casino Champion. What does that mean?

Well, Kelso if you're out there following along, get a few towels ready because the sweat is on!

Kuenzel Flips to Stay Alive

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Alex Santiago open-shoved from the button, putting maximum pressure on the short stacks in the blinds. Small blind Derek Kuenzel decided to go for broke with {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, calling all in for 190,000. He was raising Santiago's {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} before the flop, and he was racing after a flop of {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Kuenzel paired nines with the turn {9-Spades}, then ducked Santiago's river outs to a piece of the pot when the board paired, {q-Diamonds}. Kuenzel is now up to about 400,000.

Vasilis Lazarou Eliminated in 14th Place ($9,399)

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Vasilis Lazarou - 14th Place
Vasilis Lazarou - 14th Place

Adam Hui had Vasilis Lazarou all in preflop and at risk with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} to the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Although he was behind, Lazarou did have some live cards.

The flop, turn and river ran out {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} to keep Hui's ace high in the lead and send Lazarou out the door in 14th place. He took home $9,399 for his finish. THe next player to be eliminated with be the last player to earn a four-figure payday as the payouts jump to five figures once there are 12 remaining.

Hui has had himself a pretty solid series here at this WSOP Circuit stop. Prior to this deep run, Hui's cashed twice -- both being final tables. First, he final tabled Event #7: $350 No-Limit Hold'em, coming in eighth place for $3,827. After that, Hui final tabled Event #9: $1,090 No-Limit Hold'em and took fourth for $18,364. He currently has 45 points for the Circuit leaderboard and will be looking to go as deep as possible in hopes of becoming the Casino Champion.
