Many if not all of the players were outside of the room on break when we arrived at an action-packed Table 8. The pot was raised preflop, the board read and Samir Bhatia checked to Cliff Fisher who bet 15,000. Bhatia check-raised all in for 61,000 and Fisher tank-called.
Bhatia:
Fisher:
Unbelievably the spiked on the turn and Bhatia jumped up from his seat in disgust. The bricked on the river and Bhatia was eliminated from the tournament.
Fisher raked in the pot and is now up to 195,000 chips.
Just before the break, Richard Lee won a nice pot to vault up the chip counts. We caught up with the action on a board. Action was on Lee and he called bet of 6,500.
The hit the turn and this time it was checked to Lee. He fired 13,000 and his opponent called after about two minutes, landing the on the river. His opponent immediately shoved for about 40,000 and Lee snap called, showing . His opponent couldn't beat it, showing , and has been eliminated.
Lee, on the other hand, is up to a very healthy 190,000.
Action folded to the button who limped in, the small blind completed and TJ Cloutier checked in the big blind.
The flop fell and all three players checked.
The turn was the and both blinds checked to the button who fired 3,000. The small blind released, but Cloutier check-raised to 13,000. His opponent mucked and Cloutier was shipped the pot to chip up to 42,000.
Spencer Hudson led out for 14,500 with the board reading and his opponent went deep into the tank. After over a minute of sitting motionless he re-sweated his cards and went back to acting like a statue. Finally, someone called for the clocked and a floorpreson came over.
The player had 70 seconds to act, but never did, and once the clock hit zero his hand was dead and Hudson was shipped the pot.
Table 8 is a self-proclaimed “table of death,” and they are constantly reminding us how tough the play is. To their credit the majority of the players are 20-somethings and they’ve just been joined by one of the day’s chip leaders: Lyle Glover.
We figured it was appropriate to introduce you to the table and if anything crazy happens we’ll pass it along.
