Day 1 of the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event from the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma has come to a close. A field of 808 came to play today and about 180 will return tomorrow with hopes of reaching the final table. Unofficially, at the top of the counts is Lyle Glover with 256,400.
The most established player in the field, TJ Cloutier, managed to survive Day 1 with a stack 30,400. He will be back in action tomorrow, along with Daniel Aldridge (247,800), Richard Lee (220,100), Daniel Makowsky (155,600), Berry Johnston, (133,200), Brett Schwertley (37,900) and many others. Among those that did not make it to Day 2 were Tom McEvoy, Chris Tryba, Kevin Calenzo, Allen Kessler, and Justin Allen.
The Day 1 survivors will return to the felt at 12:00pm local time tomorrow. Be sure to join us then.

A player open-shoved from early position and the action folded all the way to Ruth Hall in the big blind. She tanked for a long time before asking her opponent if he would show if she folded. He nodded, "yes," and she mucked her hand.
Her opponent tabled and Hall was pleased with her decision.
A new player has joined Table 8 and in one of their first hands they eliminated Brian Flaherty. The flop was and Flaherty moved all in with . Astonishingly the new player called with for a better ace-high with no draw and held when the turn and river came , respectively.

John Coffman is severely short-stacked after a recent misstep at his table.
The board read when we arrived and Coffman led into an opponent with a 15,000-chip bet. His opponent moved all in for an additional 38,900 and Coffman tanked for a very long time before calling.

Coffman needed to hit a two-outer but did not when the rivered. He is now severely short with around 10,000 chips.
TJ Cloutier opened to 7,000 from under the gun and the action folded to a player on the button who moved all in for 20,300. The blinds released and the action was back on Cloutier. The Hall of Famer mulled the decision over for a bit but eventually mucked his hand.
“Ace-queen suited,” Cloutier told his opponent. “Just couldn’t do it.”
Ruth Hall was heads-up with an opponent and the board read . There was over 15,000 in the middle and Hall led out for 8,000. Her opponent raised to a hefty 23,000 though, forcing Hall to go into the tank.
She eventually folded, leaving herself with around 30,000 chips.
