Hall Forced to Fold Again

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A player open-shoved from early position and the action folded all the way to Ruth Hall in the big blind. She tanked for a long time before asking her opponent if he would show if she folded. He nodded, "yes," and she mucked her hand.

Her opponent tabled {a-}{k-} and Hall was pleased with her decision.

Flaherty Gone

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A new player has joined Table 8 and in one of their first hands they eliminated Brian Flaherty. The flop was {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} and Flaherty moved all in with {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. Astonishingly the new player called with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a better ace-high with no draw and held when the turn and river came {k-Clubs}, {6-Hearts} respectively.

Coffing Up Chips

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

John Coffman is severely short-stacked after a recent misstep at his table.

The board read {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} when we arrived and Coffman led into an opponent with a 15,000-chip bet. His opponent moved all in for an additional 38,900 and Coffman tanked for a very long time before calling.

Coffman: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Coffman needed to hit a two-outer but did not when the {4-Spades} rivered. He is now severely short with around 10,000 chips.

Cloutier Can't Do It

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

TJ Cloutier opened to 7,000 from under the gun and the action folded to a player on the button who moved all in for 20,300. The blinds released and the action was back on Cloutier. The Hall of Famer mulled the decision over for a bit but eventually mucked his hand.

“Ace-queen suited,” Cloutier told his opponent. “Just couldn’t do it.”

A Ruthless Laydown

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Ruth Hall was heads-up with an opponent and the board read {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}. There was over 15,000 in the middle and Hall led out for 8,000. Her opponent raised to a hefty 23,000 though, forcing Hall to go into the tank.

She eventually folded, leaving herself with around 30,000 chips.
