Herstein Heads Out

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

It's really nice to flop trips; just ask Lance Craig.

We picked up the last pot as the dealer spread a {7-Spades} {5-Spades} {5-Clubs} flop. Gary Herstein can't be faulted for getting his last chips in with {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, but Craig tabled the crushing {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} to put his man two cards from the door.

The turn came the {8-Hearts} and the river the {K-Spades}, and Herstein could not catch his card. He's out in 49th place, and Craig climbs to about 280,000 with that knockout.

The Wright Stuff

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Smith Collins was down around 25,000 when he shoved in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. Walter Wright called with {5-Clubs} {5s] from the big blind, and Collins was content to flip for double or nothing.

It would be nothing. The board ran out {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {K-Clubs}, and Collins has been sent off.

There are 47 players left, and only 45 of them can take home a paycheck this week. The bubble approaches.

Garcia Goes Out

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Alejandro Garcia was all in for just about 25,000 with {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}, and he was well ahead when Joshua Evans put him to the test with {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

The board changed everything, though, running out {A-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {4-Spades} to earn Evans the come-from-behind knockout.

Garcia exits in 47th place, and the 46 who are still seated are now one elimination away from the money. We're dealing hand-for-hand until we burst this bubble.

Double on the Bubble

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In early position, James Namken shoved his last 51,500 into the middle, and Michael Smith reshoved over the top a few seats over. The rest of the table folded out of the way, and Namken was at risk as the cards were turned over:

Namken: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Smith: {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Namken's kings held strong as the board ran {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} {2-Spades} {7-Clubs} {J-Spades}. He's found a crucial double up to 114,500, while Smith is now in danger of bubbling with his short stack of just 15,000.

McBride Schools the Mstr

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

James McBride raised to 13,000 from the cutoff seat, and Mstr Lynch three-bet to 25,000 from the big blind. McBride called, and the two men went heads-up to a {9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} flop. Lynch continued out with 35,000 more chips, and McBride was right there with the call. On the {5-Hearts} turn, McBride called another 55,000, and Lynch checked when the {10-Hearts} filled out the board. McBride took his cue to shove all in for about 120,000 total, and Lynch tanked and folded with about 100,000 chips left.

Torrey Pines For a Double Up

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Well, the short stacks are waking up with hands here. Torrey Reily was the last man to shove all in, getting his final 40,000 into the pot with {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. Jake Bazeley made an easy call with {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, and Reily was five cards from the double.

Board: {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

That's just fine for the shorty's overpair, securing his double to 92,000. Bazeley moves down to 205,000 after dropping that double.

Larson Ahead, Behind, Ahead

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Under the gun, Chun Larson open-shoved for 61,500, and Dwyte Pilgrim made the call for about half his stack in position. The rest of the table folded out of the way, and Larson was in danger as the cards were tabled.

Showdown
Larson: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Pilgrim: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

To nobody's surprise in the room, the flop came {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to pull Pilgrim into a big lead with two to come. Everyone was surprised, however, when the {K-Hearts} peeled off on fourth street to pull Larson back in front. He needed to fade another queen, and the river {J-Hearts} was scary but safe.

Larson finds his double to stay afloat, moving up to 134,500, while Pilgrim falls back to about 72,000.

Toye-ing With a Double Up

Level 19 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Robert Toye and Joshua Evans were heads up when we joined a {10-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {7-Hearts} flop. Evans knocked the table, and Toye continued out with 16,500 chips. The check-raise came from the small blind as Evans made it 39,500 total. Toye called there, and he called all in for 93,000 after the {3-Clubs} turn.

Evans turned up {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} for third pair, and Toye's {2-Clubs} {2-Spades} was safe to two outs. The river came the {J-Clubs}, and Toye's set held up to earn him the double. He's all the way up to 290,000 now, while Evans is left with just 57,000 with which to mount a comeback.
