Big Cooler, Small Pot

Level 17 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

First into the pot from the cutoff, Alejandro Garcia made it 13,000 to go, and Dwyte Pilgrim defended his big blind with a call.

Heads up, the flop brought {A-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, and Pilgrim check-called a bet of 11,000. It was most of Garcia's remaining stack, and the last few chips went into the pot after the {Q-Spades} turn. The hands turned over surprised everyone. It was Pilgrim with the {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, but his set was second-best to Garcia's {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}.

A blank on the river doubles Garcia up to about 55,000. Pilgrim must be relieved to have gotten involved with a short stack in that hand; the cooler only takes about a quarter of his stack, leaving him with 105,000 now.
