Masek Misses On The Value Bet

We came to the table as the river was being dealt out, with Alex Masek heads up with his opponent. The board read {j-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, and Masek bet out 200 into a pot of about 700 after his opponent check. His opponent took little time in calling, and Masek showed {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair. It was no good however, as his opponent showed {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a better kicker. Masek lost the pot, and is down to about 18,000, which is still plenty healthy this early on.

Barnhart Finds a Showdown

The player on the button raised to 300 before Sam Barnhart three-bet to 900 from the big blinds. The initial raiser made the call and the flop was seen heads up.

The dealer spread out {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Barnhart continued for 1,000. His opponent made the call. The turn {k-Spades} and river {6-Diamonds} were both checked twice and Barnhart tabled {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. His opponent mucked and Barnhart scooped up the pot.

Early Table Of Death

Its not too often early on in these tournaments that you see three familiar faces at the same table, but we have that today at Table 21. We already spotted David "ODB" Baker earlier, and he has been joined by Eddy Sabat and Bryce Yockey. This table will likely bring some fireworks, and we will be sure to keep tabs on it throughout the day.

Henson Building Back Up

We caught the action on the river with Ray Henson heads up with his opponent. Henson had laid out a pot sized bet of 3,000, and his opponent was in the tank. The board read a dangerous {6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, and Henson remained like a statue as his opponent thought for nearly 2 minutes. FInally, he tossed in the call, and Henson quickly tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a straight. His opponent mucked, and Henson raked in the pot. He needed it, as Henson had already lost one of his pink T5,000 chips. However, he's back on the comeback trailing, sitting at 15,000.

Bonding Chipping Up

We picked up the action on the turn of a {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs} board that already had a pot worth 1,350. A player in middle position was first to act and he bet 725. Lars Bonding was the only other player in the hand sitting with the button. He made the call.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and once again the opponent first to act fired out, this time for 1,700. Bonding wasted no time making the call and his {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} triumphed over the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} of his opponent.

Basebaldy Bets The Whole Way

Eric "Basebaldy" Baldwin was heads up in position against his opponent when the two saw the dealer fan out a flop of {j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. His opponent checked, and Baldwin fired out 300. He was quickly called, and the turn came the {8-Clubs}. Once again, his opponent checked, and once again, Baldwin bet, this time 500. Again, he was quickly called, and the two saw the river, the {5-Diamonds}.

For the third time, his opponent checked, and Baldwin wasted little time in tossing out a bet of 1,000. He was once again quickly called, and Baldwin showed {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for top pair. That was good enough to win the pot, and his stack was boosted to 22,000

Sengphet Calls Down Light

We caught the action on a {q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board. The pot was around 10,000-chips with an additional 7,000 in front of the player across from La Sengphet. After some contemplation, she tossed in the necessary chips for a call and was greeted with a table-tap from her opponent.

He turned over {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Sengphet confidently threw over her {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, good enough to scoop the pot.

Deeb Looking For Another Ring

Freddy Deeb won the WSOP-C event at the Bicycle Casino in January for over $190,000, and he is looking to add another ring to his hand today. He has registered for the event, and is just waiting for his outer table to have enough players to start. If his play at the previous event is any indication, it is likely that Deeb will be involved in a lot of big pots early on. We will be sure to keep you posted.
