Kuether Wins Biggest Pot of the Tournament

When we arrived at the table, Joe Kuether and Ryan Buckholtz were heads up in a pot that already had 100,000 in the middle. The flop read {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, and Kuether checked to Buckholtz, who bet out 83,000. Kuether called, and the turn came the {10-Clubs}. This time, Kuether led out for 140,000, and Buckholtz made the call. The river came the {3-Clubs}, and Kuether took about 30 seconds before betting 115,000. Buckholtz was clearly pained by the bet, as he was trying to figure out if Kuether indeed had the ace. After about two minutes of thinking, he slid in the call.

Kuether tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for broadway, and Buckholtz simply shook his head, before flashing {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for a flopped straight that was now no good. After the hand, Buckholz tumbled all the way down to 140,000, while Kuether is your new chip leader, with 1.08 million.

Deeb Doubles Through Cantu

Freddy Deeb limped in the cutoff before Cantu raised to 31,000 on the button. Action folded back around the Deeb who made the call and the {3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was heads up. Deeb checked to Cantu who fired out 36,000. Deeb opted to call.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Deeb stacked out chips and led into Cantu for 60,000. Cantu quickly moved Deeb all in and was called even faster.

Cantu: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Deeb: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

Deeb had spiked a set on the turn and avoided the redraw on the river.

Buckholtz Finds a Miracle

We picked up the action on a {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades} board and Raymond Dandrea betting 55,000 in position. One player got out of the way before Ryan Buckholtz check-raised all in for 130,000 more. Dandrea thought for a bit before sliding in calling chips.

Dandrea: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Buckholtz: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The turn {a-Spades} and river {q-Spades} brought Buckholtz a backdoor flush as he managed to not only avoid elimination but find himself with a stack that is above the current average.

Cronin Levels Lones

Rich Lones open shoved in early position for 75,000, and it folded around to Chris Cronin in the small blind, who made the call. The big blind folded, and the players flipped their cards up.

Lones: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Cronin: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Lones asked the dealer to "keep it real" but he did not oblige as the flop came out {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Lones asked for an ace, but didn't get it on the turn, the {7-Spades}, or the river, the {7-Clubs}. Cronin collected the pot to up his stack to 615,000, while Lones hit the rail.

Buckholtz Looks Up Dandrea

From middle position, Raymond Dandrea raised to 25,000 before being three-bet by Ryan Buckholtz to 66,000. Dandrea made the call and the two saw the flop come down {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Both players opted to check.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Dandrea checked again. This time Buckholtz reached for chips and placed 66,000 in the middle. But Dandrea wasn't backing down as he moved 160,000 in front of the betting line. Buckholtz thought for awhile and made the call.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and without much hesitation Dandrea bet 100,000. Buckholtz went back into the tank and eventually made the call.

With a sigh, Dandrea tabled {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} clearly not expecting that to be the best hand. But as Buckholtz sat there longer and longer staring at the board and his opponents hand, it became clear that Dandrea was going to win the pot and he got more and more excited with every passing second. Sure enough Buckholtz eventually mucked his cards and the pot was shipped to Dandrea.

Shortly after the hand, Dandrea told us that he played the five-seven because that's his son's birthday. Good thing for Dandrea he wasn't born a day earlier or a day later because this hand could turn out to be a huge turning point for him in this tournament.

Baldwin Binks A Huge Double

While the rest of the tables were standing up waiting for the two table redraw, Eric Baldwin and Chris Cronin were in the middle of a huge pot. We don't know the details of the bet, as we missed the first part of the hand, but here's what we can tell you. The flop read {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, and Baldwin check raised Cronin, who fired back with a three bet. Baldwin shoved for about 150,000 more, and Cronin called it off after crunching the numbers. Cronin said he was in bad shape when he called, but he had no idea he would be this far behind.

Baldwin: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Cronin: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Baldwin was miles ahead of Cronin, who would need runner runner straight to win the pot. The turn brought the {k-Clubs}, and Cronin was drawing dead. The river brought the {6-Hearts}, and Baldwin collected the monster pot, doubling to just under 800,000, while Cronin plummeted to 260,000.
