Day 1 Chip Leader Ousted

We didn't catch the hand but our chip leader entering the day has been eliminated. Luke Nettles showed up late and didn't seem to be able to win a significant hand all day. He chipped down almost immediately and was sitting with less than 20 big blinds for the last couple of levels.

Dandrea Takes a Stand

Raymond Dandrea's table just broke and he was seated two to the right of Brandon Cantu. On the very first hand he played at his new table, Dandrea raised only, to be three-bet by Cantu to 27,500. Dandrea, who moved to the table with just over 200,000, took a handful of chips, mostly pink ones worth 5,000, and placed them in front of the betting line as he continued to stack his chips at his new seat. Cantu thought for a bit before letting his hand go.

A few hands later, on a {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board, Cantu was forced to make another decision. With the pot already at 60,000, Cantu had 30,500 sitting in front of the betting line. Once again Dandrea stuck in a handful of chips, about 90,000 worth, forcing Cantu off his hand.

Cantu had been rolling over his table for the better part of the last three hours but has been thrown off by the presence of Dandrea.

Kuether Is The Table Captain

Alex Masek has been on a roll as of late, upping his stack to over 250,000, but he just got a brutal table draw when his table broke. He took the seat to the direct right of the chip leader Joe Kuether. We didn't expect it to be long before they butted heads, and sure enough, it only took about 10 minutes.

Action folded to Masek on the button who raised it to 6,500. Kuether was next in the small blind, and he three bet to 17,500. The big blind folded, and it was back to Masek. As he is know to do, Masek carefully assembled some chips together, and stuck in a four bet to 45,000. It was back to Kuether, who tanked for about a minute, before taking a couple chips off the top of one of his pink T5,000 stacks, and sliding it into the middle! This was a five bet to 112,500, which is nearly the average in the whole room. Now it was Masek's turn to go into the tank, and he thought for a good three minutes, before reluctantly letting his hand go. Kuether scooped the pot, and showed Masek that he is not to be messed with, as he strengthens his chip lead.

Cantu Gets Back On Track

It has been a rough couple of levels for Brandon Cantu, as he has spread over 100,000 around the table, but he has just won a nice sized pot to get things going again. We caught up with the action on the turn with the baord reading {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, and Cantu's lone opponent bet out 18,000. Cantu thought for about 15 seconds before raising it up to 48,000. It was back to his opponent, who shoved all in for around 100,000, and Cantu beat him into the pot.

Cantu: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

Cantu had his opponent drawing dead, and he won the big pot with his flopped set. The meaningless river was the {j-Spades}, and Cantu won the pot, to up his stack 450,000.

Cantu Gets Revenge on Dandrea

We picked up the action on a {4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop being contested by Raymond Dandrea and Brandon Cantu. Dandrea bet 16,000 and was called by Cantu.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Dandrea fired 28,000 before being raised by Cantu to 68,000. Dandrea thought for a bit before sliding in the chips to call.

The river was the {9-Clubs} which Dandrea quickly checked. Cantu announced "Eighty (thousand)" and Dandrea once again called.

Cantu showed {4-Spades}{3-Spades} for a strait and Dandrea threw his hand away.

Masek Loses Some More

Alex Masek's stack has been on a roller coaster the past couple of hours. He was a two outter away from being crippled to just a few big blinds before spiking a queen, only to see his stack balloon even further to almost 300,000-chips. However, he slid all the way back down to earth at 180,000 before the following hand occurred.

A player, who had just lost with {k-}{k-} to {q-}{q-} all in preflop for 200,000 chips a few minutes ago, moved his last 36,000 all in from middle position. Action folded around to Masek in the big blind and he made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Masek: {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Opponent: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}

The flop was {k-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} putting Masek in the lead. However, the {3-Diamonds} changed things in a hurry and the {6-Hearts} officially sent the chips away from Masek.

Dandrea Doubles Through Cantu

Ever since Raymond Dandrea moved to Brandon Cantu's table, the two have been going at constantly. It looked as though Cantu was going to end it, but Dandrea managed to survive. Here's how the hand played out.

The pot had about 24,000 when we caught the action on the flop, which read {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Dandrea bet out 17,000, and Cantu took little time in raising to 42,500. It was back to Dandrea, who laid back in his chair, and put his hands on his head. After about 20 seconds of thinking, he shoved the rest of his 90,000 stack in, and Cantu called.

Cantu: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Dandrea: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Dandrea would need a ten or a five to win the hand, and he didn't get it on the turn, the {6-Diamonds}. That card did give him some more outs, but he wouldn't need those new outs, as the river brought the {10-Spades} completing his straight. Dandrea doubled through Cantu, who is still near the top of the leader board.

Kuether Sends One Home

Joe Kuether opened the action with a raise on the button to 8,000 before the player to his left moved all in for about 65,000. Eric Baldwin folded his big blind and Kuether immediately made the call.

Kuether: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out a clean {2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Kuether gets us that much closer to the money.
