After a few late entries at the start of the day, the official number of entrants increased to 625 players, creating a prize pool of $909,375. The top 63 players will be paid as follows:
We're not sure of the action, but we arrived at Table 41 to see laid out in front of Everrett Carlton on a board reading . His opponent held and was clearly excited to spike his two-outer on the river. Carlton, on the other hand, didn't seemed thrilled to be left with just 21,000.
Dennis Phillips opened for 2,400 under the gun and received a call from Steve Melton on the button. When the flop fell , Phillips check-called a bet of 5,000 before check-calling a bet of 7,000 on the turn.
The river saw a third check from the St. Louis native, allowing Melton to fire out 11,000. Phillips tanked for a bit before just flatting with , but it was no good against Melton's quads!
Matt Chang has been eliminated in early action. Chang was in the big blind facing a preflop raise and woke up with . He moved in, got a call and was up against . His opponent caught a nine on the flop and Chang bricked.
Mike Pilla opened the action with a raise in late position. There was a bit of a question though as to how much. He verbally declared raise and three T1,000 chips went out first, followed by a T5,000 chip. The dealer informed him that he had string bet and only the 3,000 would stand.
Action passed to Tripp Kirk in the small blind and he did Pilla's work for him by re-raising to 5,200. Pilla moved all in and Kirk quickly called.
A player in early position opened for a little over 2,000 only to have Nadya Magnus move all in from the cutoff for 29,900. The button and blinds all got out of the way, and the EP player made the call.
