Nom Nom for Nam Le

Nam Le is just gobbling up chips after knocking out two time World Poker Tour winner Cornel Cimpan to jump up the leader board.

The player under the gun raised to 700. The player under the gun + 1, Cimpan on the button, and Nam Le in the small blind all called.

Flop: {8-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

Action checked to the Cimpan who bet 2,000, to which Le responded with a check raise to 4,500. Cimpan tanked for a bit while Le stared intently at the television in the room. Eventually, Cimpan made the call.

Turn: {2-Clubs}

Le immediately shoved out a stack of 21,000 on the turn which was more than enough to put Cimpan all in. After a spell in the tank, Cimpan eventually called off his last 6,100 chips.

Le: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Cimpan: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

Le already had Cimpan drawing dead so the {2-Hearts} on the river to improve him to a full house was meaningless.

With that, Le has bounded to 36,000 in chips.

Everyone Is Now Playing for 2nd

Before this season of the WSOP Circuit started, there were two players who stood above everyone else on the Ring Count List. Both Kyle Cartwright and Mark "Pegasus" Smith held five rings, but as of last night, they are now looking up at Alexandru Masek, or simply Alex as he is better known by. Last night, Masek won the $365 Turbo Event to capture that sixth ring, and he has just sat down at his table, looking for lucky #7.

As if this list of accomplishments wasn't impressive enough, he also final tabled this event last year, finished runner-up to Freddy Deeb. Over the summer, we caught up with Masek when he had four rings, asking him about his search for the record that he now owns.

Singontiko's Swan Song

We didn't catch the hand that did him in, but we did walk by David Singontiko's table and saw that his seat was empty. Singontiko won a WSOP bracelet in 2011, and also final tabled this event last year, finishing 4th.

He will be back later today for Day 1b to try and make a repeat final table run.

DeMaci Dominating Early

Chris DeMaci took his seat about an hour into today's event, and it didn't take him long to start crushing. He was already almost double his starting stack when we caught him taking down another big pot in a three way hand.

The flop came down {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and one player checked to the second player, who bet 700. DeMaci made the call in position, and the player who checked folded. The turn came the {3-Hearts}, and it was checked to DeMaci, who fired out 2,000. His opponent called, and when the river hit the {a-Clubs}, DeMaci fired 5,750 after his opponent checked. He wasn't called, and DeMaci took another pot.

After that hand, DeMaci is sitting on 48,000.

Madsen Moves, Takes a Hit

Jeff Madsen has just moved away from the celebrity table and is now seated right next to Nam Le.

We saw Madsen in a pot when we found him. Madsen was in the small blind and bet 2,000 into a pot of 5,800 on the {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} board.

His opponent in middle position made a raise to 5,000 and Madsen went into the tank, counting out chips.

"How much do you have left?" Madsen asked and received no answer.

Eventually Madsen did fold his hand though and dropped down to 15,525 in chips.

Cartwright Making an Appearance

We just found five time Circuit ring winner Kyle Cartwright in the field at the same table as AJ Jejelowo, Ben Yu and Jay "WhoJedi" Newnum. When we got to the table Cartwright was involved in a pot with Newnum and Jejelowo.

Jejelowo who was in early position made a bet of 1,500 into a 3,750 pot and action was on Cartwright who raised to 4,000 on the button. Newnum folded in the big blind, and Jejelowo folded as well.

After that hand, Cartwright moved up to 21,150 in chips.

Newnum Holding His Own

Jay "WhoJedi" Newnum is one of the most well known and liked people in the poker media. Newnum works with the WSOP, as well as Commerce Casino. However, he is on the felt today playing in this event, and is doing well for himself so far.

We just caught Newnum in a hand on the turn, with the board reading {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Newnum check called a bet of 1,600 from his opponent, and the river brought the {6-Diamonds}. Newnum checked once again, and this time, his opponent fired out 2,100. Newnum tanked for about 10 seconds before calling, and his opponent tapped the table before revealing {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for ace high. Newnum rolled over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} for two pair, and it was good enough to claim the pot.

After that hand, Newnum was sitting on 28,000.
