Sick Beat for Matt Weber
Matt Weber has just taken a sick beat, but it wasn't the fault of the cards. This one was a floor error.
We talked to Weber, who was visibly shaken, after the incident to find out what happened. According to him, a floorman came and sat down a player at his table right next to him. The player played several hands, and after a short time, another player came to the table claiming that the new player was in his seat.
The player showed his ticket to the dealer and floor and they were able to figure out that he was in fact registered for a $200 Turbo Satellite and not the $1,675 main event. The player and what chips he had were removed from the table, and from the tournament. These chips also included 7,000 tournament chips that Weber had lost to the player.
"Obviously, he would've played differently thinking it was a $200 satellite," Weber said. "It's not really fair to me or anyone else at the table, but I can't see what a better ruling would've been either."
According to Weber, this is the second time this type of error had happened to him. The first time was also in the WSOPC at the Bicycle.
Here are Weber's Tweets explaining the matter:
Floor man seats a new player at my table, I then proceed to lose a big pot to that player. Few hands later someone comes w/ receipt (cont)January 12 2013Follow
for that seat. They realize player 1 isn't just in wrong seat, but wrong tournament. I'm playing against a guy who thinks he is in a mega!!January 12 2013Follow
Those chips are taken out of play and I'm screwed out of a big pile of chips. Player even says he only called since it was "just a mega."January 12 2013Follow
It was an unfortunate turn of events for Matt Weber who is now down to 13,000 chips.
