Bullets For Rice

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

We picked up with the action on a flop of {2-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}. With well over 6,500 already piled up in the middle, Sean Rice checked over to his lone opponent who checked it right back. The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Rice led for 3,500. His opponent wasted no time flinging out a call.

The {4-Spades} finished off the board and Rice moved 6,500 into the middle.

"How much more do you have?" asked Rice's opponent. Rice lifted his hands.

A moment passed.

"So gross!" exclaimed Rice's opponent. Eventually he tossed out just a call.

Rice rolled over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and his opponent mucked, informing the table afterward that he held ace-king. Rice dragged in the pot and is now sitting on about 35,000.

Just a Deuce Can't Beat Nguyen

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

We picked up with the action on a finished board of {6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades}. With roughly 7,000 in the pot already, Kenny Nguyen checked on over to his lone opponent. Nguyne's opponent shot 4,300 into the middle and Nguyen went into the tank.

Eventually, Nguyen called the bet.

"I'm sure you win," remarked Nguyen's opponent. "I just have a deuce."

Nguyen tabled {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for nines and sixes and was able to bring in the pot. He now sits around 27,500 in chips.

Silberstein Can't Be Stopped

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

The flop read {J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and a player checked on over to Ken Silberstein who fired 1,600. Silberstein's opponent slid out a check-raise to 4,300 and action was back on Silberstein.

He dipped into his stack and came out with a three-bet to 11,000 and his opponent quickly snapped all in for not much more. Silberstein called.

Silberstein: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Silberstein needed to fade diamonds heading to the turn and the river. He did exactly that as the {6-Spades} came down on fourth and the {7-Spades} on fifth, ensuring that he knocked out another player. Last year's runner-up has now built a huge stack of roughly 59,000.

Overton Climbing

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

Aaron Overton opened the action with a raise to 450 from the cutoff. The player on the button quickly three-bet to 1,550 and it folded back to Overton. He cut out a four-bet to 4,000 straight and his opponent called.

The dealer spread {4-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{A-Spades} on the felt and the action went check-check. The {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn and once again prompted no action as both players checked their options.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Overton moved out a bet of 6,600. His opponent called and Overton rolled over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for top-top. Overton's opponent mucked and the pot was pushed to Overton.

Overton is looking for a strong showing today and looking to repeat his Day 1 performance from last year. At the end of both Day 1 flights, it was Overton who led the field going into Day 2 just one year ago. He's currently well on the way to building a big stack with about 42,000 in chips.

Straight For Garcia

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

Flop: {5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

We caught up to see Cord Garcia and another opponent heads up. There was a check to Garcia on the button and he fired 850. His opponent stuck around to see the {9-Spades} hit fourth street. Another check prompted a 2,200-chip bet from Garcia. Once again his opponent stayed the course.

The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Garcia's opponent fired 4,500 into the middle. Garcia chose to flat called and his opponent mucked his hand. Garcia tried to muck as well but the hands needed to be shown at the showdown and Garcia's opponent rolled over {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a busted straight draw. Garcia showed {8-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a rivered straight and he was able to drag in the pot. He's now sitting on roughly 37,000 in chips.

Silberstein Sends Another Home

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

We swung by Ken Silberstein's table to find him send a third player to the rail.

A player opened to 800 from under the gun and it folded around to the button who flat called. Silberstein made it 3,000 from the big blind and the original raiser shipped all in for roughly 8,000 total. The button folded and Silberstein flung out a call.

Silberstein: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The two were racing for the short-stack's tournament life. Silberstein continued to run hot as the board fell down {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades} and he was able to add another knockout to his Day 1 resume. Last year's runner up is now sitting on about 69,500 in chips.
