Action Board Gives Sanders the Double

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Michael Sanders
Michael Sanders

Michael Sanders is keeping his dreams of back-to-back tournament wins alive after notching a big double just a few moments ago. Sanders won a $580 preliminary event yesterday to get his first ring.

Action started with the cutoff raising to 800. Sanders made the call from the button, and both blinds also came along. The flop came down {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and it was checked to the original raiser, who bet out 2,300. Sanders was the lone caller, and the turn brought the {j-Diamonds}. Here's where the fireworks went off.

The cutoff thought for about 30 seconds before checking, and Sanders took the window to bet, firing out 5,050. The second Sanders's chips hit the table, the cutoff threw out four T5,000 chips, a bet of 20,000. This was enough to put Sanders all in, and he took his time with the decision. After about 90 seconds in the tank, he made the call, and we saw that both players had monster hands.

Sanders: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The top pair nut flush draw of Sanders was leading his opponent's middle pair middle flush draw. Sanders would need to fade a diamond or a nine on the river, and the {k-Hearts} gave him an unnecessary flush.

"I thought you might have had queens," Sanders said after the hand. Once he collected the chips, we saw that Sanders upped his stack to 44,000 after that hand.

Roussakis Comes Up Short

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Erik Roussakis had hopes of making his fourth Main Event Final Table on the Circuit in this season alone, but he had a fairly quick day. Not long ago, we saw Roussakis casually talking on his phone at an empty table, and we saw that his old seat had a new player in it. He also busted last night, meaning that he is done for this event.

Cowboy Rides Off Into the Sunset

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

"Cowboy" John Land had a good start to his day, upping his stack to 25,000 in the first level. However, it was downhill from there, and he just came over to tell us about his bustout hand.

Action folded all the way around to Land in the small blind, and he limped in. The big blind raised it up to 2,000, and Land jammed all in for his last 9,000. The big blind quickly called, and Land was in big trouble.

Land: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-}{k-}

It was a blind-vs-blind cooler for Land, and while he caught hope when the flop came {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-}, the turn and river both produced blanks, knocking Land out.

New Photos Are Up

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

We just posted a few photos of some of the notables in the field today. You can check them out in the photos tab at the bottom right of the page.

Coultas Goes Clubbing

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

We caught up with the action in a three way pot on a flop of all clubs: {4-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. The small blind checked to Chris Coultas in the big blind, and he fired out 1,100. Their middle position opponent called while the small blind ducked out of the way.

The turn brought another club, the {8-Clubs}, and this time Coultas checked. His opponent fired out 2,000, and Coultas made the call. The river brought the {5-Spades}, and Cloutas checked again. This time his opponent checked as well, and rolled over {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a jack high flush.

It was no good though, as Coultas tabled {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a better flush. After that hand, Coultas is up to 27,000.
