WSOPC #8: $600 Marathon No-Limit Hold'em
Day 1 Completed
The aptly named WSOPC #8: $600 Marathon No-Limit Hold'em played for just under 13 hours in total, and South Korean Seungmook "7high" Jung emerged the winner for $96,714. Jung outlasted 1,264 entries to claim the largest portion of the $720,480 prize pool.
Jung had a few results in the World Series of Poker Online 2020 earlier this year, but today's win would appear to nearly double his previous best score, $43,040 for 7th place in this year's WSOP Online $1,000 No Limit Hold'em 6-Handed (Event #73).

Play got underway today at noon UTC, and it only took three hours for the prize pool to start growing past the $500K guarantee. By the time registration closed in Level 16, there was $720,480 in the prize pool on the back of 1,264 entries.
It took about an hour to play down to the bubble and Jessica Teusl managed to survive at risk on the bubble, and went on finish in the top 100. Daniel "GiveUp1905" Saugspier wasn't quite so lucky however. He roared out of the gate at the start, busting two bullets early, then building a huge stack on his third try. He was chip leading for much of the early part of the game, but ended up busting out just before the money.
Along the way, players like Craig "Tonkaiktomni" Lecompte, Davide Nutarelli, Denas Pranaitis, and Peter "BIG CHI" Chien also busted for cashes. The final table was set when both Silvio "valterzao" Costa and "yoyoc" busted at the same time with Costa taking the 9th place spot due to a bigger stack.
The eight-handed final table went fairly quickly at first with Jie "TwoBeatSix" Zheng falling in 8th soon after they sat down. It took about another 20 minutes until Jonas Lauck busted to Adrian Mateos, starting a bit of a sun-run for Mateos. He went on to eliminate Ajay "Ross_Geller" Chabra, Roman "prororo" Ro, Bruno "wisechinese1" Borges, and "ZoZoQ" in short order to get the game heads up.
That's where it all stalled out. Mateos came to heads up play with the chip lead, but Jung regained the lead soon after when they flopped a set of kings against Mateos holding two pair. Mateos evened it up over the next level, and retook the lead when he rivered the best pair in a big pot.
But Jung wasn't going easily, and regained the lead soon after when Mateos folded the river for a huge 11 million chip pot. From there, it was only a matter of time, and it finally ended on a heads up cooler that saw Mateos get a suited queen-jack in against king-jack for Jung. The king-high held, and Mateos was forced to settle for second despite doing most of the work on the final table.
Mateos actually had the chance to chop it when heads up began. Jung offered a deal while Mateos had the chip lead, and Mateos elected to gamble, ending up with $72,524 for second to the $96,714 first place prize for Jung.
Adrian Mateos limped, then called when Seungmook "7high" Jung shoved more than 27 million.
