Gary Lent is a name you may not have heard of, but his contributions to poker are quite impressive.
Gary is the founder of www.worldpokerrank.com, a site that has compiled tournament data on almost 60,000 players from across the globe. The site tracks buy-ins of $100 and higher and has received tremendous feedback from the world's top players.
He currently has 3,900 chips and is soon hoping to add his own name to the database.
We just spotted Artie Cobb, the only player in WSOP history with three, that's right, three world titles in Seven-Card Stud. Artie has won $580,668 in stud events at the WSOP throughout his career. He'll definitely be a presence throughout today's action.
We've spotted a number of big names in the field, including WSOP Main Event champions Greg Raymer (2004) and Huckleberry Seed (1996).
Also noteworthy are Max Stearn, former Seven-Card Stud world champion, three time bracelet winner and poker author; "Miami" John Cernuto, also a three time bracelet winner and twice runner-up; Mel Judah, who owns two Seven-Card Stud bracelets; and Barry Greenstein, who donates all of his tournament winnings to charity.
We'll report on other big names as they are spotted in this large field.
Amongst the big names in the field today is legendary tournament player Barbara Enright, playing in her second event of the 2007 WSOP. Barbara has a most impressive resume and she's hoping to add to it in today's event.
Here are some of Barbara's remarkable accolades:
- Highest finish for a female in the history of the WSOP Main Event - 5th place in 1995
- Three WSOP braclets:
- 1986 Ladies Event
- 1994 Ladies Event (First woman to win this event twice)
- 1996 Pot Limit Hold'em (First woman to win an open event)
- Highest female finisher in the history of the original Tournament of Champions
- First and only lady to win a major all-around title at the Bicycle Casino
She looks gorgeous and ready to play. We'll keep you up-to-date on her progress.
