Preflop, Dean Bui raised to 20,000 from under the gun. Jason Mercier, from the big blind, moved all-in for his remaining 115,000. Bui called and showed pocket threes and was up against Mercier's . The board came giving Mercier a running flush. Bui is still alive but shortstacked down to 70,000 while Mercier is up to 280,000.
Samuel Rosenzweig got all his money in before the flop, his K-10 trailing Napoleon Ta's , but he flopped a ten, then turned another ten and doubled up to 80,000.
Scott Freeman moved his remaining chip stack all in preflop with A-7 and was called by Jacques Zaicik who held K-J. The flop came which gave both players straight draws. However, the turn brought the for Zaicik and the on the river gave him a straight, eliminating Freeman from the field.
Duncan Bell raised to 23,000 and Joel Casper reraised to 70,000. Bell then shoved for a total of 230,000 and Casper thought a bit before mucking A-Q face up. Bell then showed his own A-Q and raked in the pot.
Michael Kamran made it 22,000 to go preflop and Scott Cook raised all-in for 58,000. Kamran called and showed A-K while Cook held pocket sixes. Kamran flopped an ace and Cook failed to improve.
Preflop, Steven Merrifield raised to 24,000 and Selbst reraised to 67,000. Merrifield moved all in for his remaining chips and had Selbst covered. Selbst made the call and showed A-K while Merrifield had pocket fours. Merrifield flopped a set and although Selbst found an ace, she failed to improve and was eliminated. After the hand, Merrifield is up to 470,000.
We started the day with 137 players in the field and after just five levels of play we've already eliminated over 100 players. Only thirty-four remain in the field, but how much longer it will take to reach the final nine remains to be seen.
