Big Hand Before the Break

Clements loses a hand to Aronesty
Clements loses a hand to Aronesty
Just before the break, Joe Aronesty took a big pot from Scott Clements.

On a board of {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Spades}, the betting was capped. Then after the river brought the {2-Spades}, Clements just called Aronesty, who turned over {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

"Nice hand sir," said Clements, mucking his cards.

Clements' stack fell to 99,000 and Aronesty increased his to a healthy 68,000.

Lee Scoops From Lee

Soo Lee limped from under the gun and Lee Grove from the small blind raised. Soo Lee called. The flop came {A-Hearts} {4-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and the action was three-bet.

The turn came the {J-Hearts} and once again the action was three-bet. The river came the {6-Spades} and Grove checked-called a bet from Soo Lee. The two players then confidently turned over their hands. Soo Lee turned her hand back over after she realized Grove had her beat on both the high and the low with {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}.

After being down to a mere 4,000 chips a little earlier, Grove has now boosted to over 50,000.

John Guth, winner of last year's Omaha Hi/Lo World Championship, was knocked out by Jimmy Fricke.

After a Fricke raise, Guth reraised to put the rest of his short stack all in preflop.

The board came {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Fricke turned over {2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to scoop the pot. Guth mucked his cards.

Gobboboy Triples

A few hands after folding his option in the big blind, Jimmy Fricke found a hand he liked.

On a board of {7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, Fricke moved the last of his chips against two other players — both called.

Fricke's opponents both checked the river {j-Clubs} and Fricke turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The two players mucked and Fricke is up to 56,000.

John Juanda just lost a chunk of his big stack to Ryan Carey.

After the flop came {j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Ryan Carey bet and Juanda called. After the {q-Diamonds} fell on the turn, Carey check-raised Juanda and the three-time bracelet winner called.

After the {k-Spades} came on the river, Carey fired again and Juanda called, then mucked after Carey showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Juanda's stack went down to 74,000 and Carey went back up to 46,000.

Stann Gives It Back

Dave Stann
Dave Stann
The next hand, Dave Stann found himself raising preflop and got called in two spots. The flop came {9-Spades} {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} and Stann bet out again. Neither of his opponents budged and they saw the turn three handed.

The turn was the {10-Spades} and action checked around. On the river, the {A-Spades}, the first player bet out and Stann decided it was best to muck his hand. The other player called. Stann's two opponents in the hand ended up splitting up his money and Stann is right back down to only a few thousand chips after doubling up the previous hand.
