Selbst Retakes the Lead

First hand back from the break: Stanley Statkiewicz raised to 60,000 from the button/under the gun, Jamie Pickering folded in the small blind, and Vanessa Selbst repopped to 190,000 from the big blind. Statkiewicz made the call.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Selbst quickly bet 240,000, and Statkiewicz folded, showing 8-9-10-J.

Selbst showed two of her cards: a five and a trey. Statkiewicz laughed, saying "You gotta show more than two for it to be a bluff!"

She Takes a Couple Before the Break

Vanessa Selbst has just won back-to-back hands before the break. The first hand she reraised Jamie Pickering from the small blind after he raised from the button, and took it down.

The next hand she raised from the button and Jamie Pickering called from the big blind.

The flop came {9-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} before Pickering led out for a pot-sized bet, a total of 96,000. Selbst called quickly before the next card came {3-Diamonds}.

Pickering didn't seem to like the third diamond and checked to Selbst who fired 160,000 in to the pot. He ended up folding, giving more of his chips to Selbst.

A Choice of Final Tables for Fans

I mentioned last post we are at Table 15, just outside the Milwaukee's Best Light "No Limit Lounge" staging area, where the final table of Event No. 20, the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event, is taking place.

Whereas that event features ample seating for spectators, such is not the case for us. A sizable crowd has gathered nonetheless along the ropes, just a couple of feet from the players. I don't know how things are going inside the arena next door, but the show out here is definitely becoming one that several fans have chosen as the one worth seeing.

Tension Rising at Table #15

The somewhat light-hearted mood of today's final table while Vanessa Selbst had that big chip lead has turned quite tense since the stacks became more evenly distributed.

After losing a few chips over several hands, Selbst just got a few back. Selbst raised to 50,000 from the button/under the gun, Stanley Statkiewicz folded, and Jamie Pickering called from the big blind.

The flop came {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Pickering checked, Selbst bet 45,000, and Pickering called. The turn was the {A-Hearts}. Pickering checked again, and this time Selbst bet 120,000. Pickering went into the tank for several minutes, then let it go.

Selbst is still behind both Statkiewicz and Pickering. We're about 7-8 minutes until the next break, at which time we'll get you an updated chip count.

Raising Game

Vanessa Selbst wins a small pot, her first in a while, and gives a little cheer out to herself.

The very next hand she checks her option after Jamie Pickering completes from the small blind.

The flop comes {K-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Pickering bets the pot, 32,000. Selbst raises it another 110,00 before Pickering reraises the pot. Selbst insta-mucks and doesn't look too happy right now.
