Lederer Doubles Up

Preflop, Gavin Smith called an all-in holding pocket kings against his opponent's pocket kings. Things looked safe for Gavin, until the flop ran three spades with his opponent holding the king of spades. The river hit the fourth spade and dropped Gavin down to 9,000 in chips.

Alex Melnikow Wins Another Big Pot

You can't win the bracelet on Day 1 of a WSOP tournament but Alex Melnikow is giving it his best shot. He just eliminated two more players when he raised to 2,600 and two players that followed each moved all in. Melnikow called with {A-Spades}

and found himself up against {A-Hearts}

. Melnikow spiked a King on the flop and took down a huge pot that pushed him up to 245,000.

Quads Strike Twice
