Lederer Doubles Up

Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer was all in preflop holding A-K while his opponent had K-Q. The flop bricked for both players, though the turn brought the {K-Clubs}. His opponent was drawing to a queen on the river, which missed, giving Lederer a nice double-up to 50,000.

Alex Melnikow Wins Another Big Pot

You can't win the bracelet on Day 1 of a WSOP tournament but Alex Melnikow is giving it his best shot. He just eliminated two more players when he raised to 2,600 and two players that followed each moved all in. Melnikow called with {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} and found himself up against {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. Melnikow spiked a King on the flop and took down a huge pot that pushed him up to 245,000.

Quads Strike Twice

Dmitri Nobles

Quads won a big pot for Alex Melnikow and they did the trick for Dmitri Nobles. He was all in with {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} against {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}, and the {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} put Nobles way ahead in the hand. The {J-Hearts} may have been mere icing on the cake but Nobles jumped out of his seat and pumped his fist in celebration. That pot pushed Nobles up over 130,000.

Quads Push Alex Melnikow Over 150,000

Alex Melnikow
Alex Melnikow
Alex Melnikow and Thomas Wahlroos called a 3,000 raise from a player in early position and the flop came {3-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {3-Clubs}.The original raiser bet 4,500, Wahlroos reraised to 11,000 and Melnikow called. The original raiser then popped it to 31,000, Wahlroos folded, and Melnikow called again.

On the turn the {6-Diamonds} hit and the other player moved all in, which Melnikow quickly called, as he'd flopped quads with {3-Hearts} {3-Spades}. The other player mucked and Melnikow won a pot that pushed his stack up to 172,000.
