Ivey Making Noise

Don't you know who I am?
Don't you know who I am?
As tends to be the case lately, Phil Ivey has steadily moved up today's leaderboard without much fanfare whatsoever. Phil Ivey has always been praised as one of the best all around poker players in the world. Many people now believe that with the passing of Chip Reese in December that Phil Ivey is not just one of the best, but in fact the best living poker player on the planet. Ivey is always a threat in mixed events and tonight has proven no exception. If he can stay near the top of the leaderboard, do not be surprised to see him at tomorrow's final table.

Talk From the Floor

The Dr. Phil of Poker?
The Dr. Phil of Poker?
Daniel Negreanu just took down the $2,000 Limit Holdem bracelet in an event where word is he did not lose a hand heads up. This was being discussed at Jennifer Harman's table and Tom Schneider said it best when he said, "At some point you're going to win the tournament when you don't lose a hand heads up."

Ivey Eliminates Kollmann

Holdem:

PokerNews Cup Austria Champion Erich Kollmann raised it up from early position and Phil Ivey made the call from the blinds. The flop came A-8-7 and Ivey checked to Kollmann who fired his last chips into the middle. Ivey made the call with {8-Spades}{4-Spades} and was well ahead of Kollmann's {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The turn and river arrived 7-9 and Kollmann is eliminated as Ivey jumps to 145,000 chips.

It's ironic that Ivey is chip leader in this event as the same time that Daniel Negreanu has just won the bracelet in the $2,000 Limit Holdem event. Of course these two have a famous prop bet over the number of bracelets won in this series. Will this news be motivation for Ivey in today's event?
