Astounding Greenstein Vs. Men "The Master" Hand

Men Nguyen and Barry Greenstein, sharing a table for some time now, have finally clashed, and quite spectacularly.

Greenstein raised to 1,200 preflop, and Nguyen made it 3,200. Greenstein called. The flop came down {4-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and Nguyen bet 4,000. Greenstein raised all in for 16,000, and Nguyen called in a flash.

Greenstein: er, {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}
Men Nguyen: umm, {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}

Turn: {9-Spades}
River: {3-Clubs}

Greenstein doubles up to 53,000, Men sinks down to 32,000.

When a Queen Looks Like an Ace

Short stacked and desperate for a hand, Shalom Malca found his tournament life on the line with K-Q versus 6-6. Fortunately, his coin was buttered the right side, the A-8-Q-Q-K board providing him with a timely, and essential double through.

Sadly, Malca is still short stacked with 2,600, so will need a repeat performance (or two) if he's going to become a challenge in this event.

"When you haven't seen anything above a ten," he complained, "a queen suddenly looks like aces."

Now I'm no expert in reading things into what people say, but I'd suggest he hasn't seen too many big hands today.

Chomping at the Bit

We've lost quite a few pros recently, but I did spot a familiar face in amateur British player Graham 'Chompy' Wheldon. He is a regular at the Luton G Casino just outside Luton, but decided to broaden his horizon and venture across the pond towards the City of Sin.

He's experienced a slice of good fortune today though, having doubled through with jacks versus queens, all in on a 6-6-4 flop with a third knave arriving on the river.

A few rounds later he surpassed the 20,000 mark, his kings holding up against queens. At time of writing though, he has lost a couple of minor pots and is now hovering around 18,000.

Washington Eliminates Opponent

Kent Washington has dropped a few chips since his peak a little while ago, but he's still on a double-the-average 28,000. Most recently he eliminated a player who moved in for 4,100 preflop -- Washington called from the small blind and was dominating.

Washington: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}
Mr Opponent: {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

No improvement for either player on the board, and the unknown opponent was gone.
