Alaei was crippled in a hand with Howard Lederer that left him with just 3,000 chips. He was knocked out a few hands later. Lederer now sits with 40,000 chips.
"The Year of the Pro" continues as Barry Greenstein just won his third WSOP bracelet. Barry has been heads up for a while during that event while at the same time playing in this event during breaks in the latter.
Immediately after winning, Barry jogged from the ESPN arena to this event, barely stopping to field questions from media for his win. Currently, Greenstein is down to 11,000 in chips.
Daniel Negreanu in on break from the PLO w/rebuys event and he's returned to try and build up his stack in this event. He's down to 6,600 and he'll have to move his chips if he hopes to survive another long absence while he plays in the other tournament.
Among our chip leaders in the early stages Richard Brodie saw his stack depleted when he called bets all the way to the river on a only to have his opponent turn over for the flush. Brodie's stack is now down to 14,100.
