Wahlroos Busts Ly

Minh Ly's pocket eights couldn't hold up against Thomas Wahlroos' A-J. Wahlroos missed the flop, and called after Ly bet into it. A jack fell on the turn and Ly couldn't improve by the river. After the hand, Wahlroos is up to 73,000.

Eric Froehlich Eliminates Huck Seed

After Huck Seed saved his last 3,700 when he was up against a set of jacks at the river he was eliminated just a few hands later by Eric Froehlich. Seed raised under the gun and Froehlich reraised. Seed committed the last of his chips against what Froehlich said was a "big pair"--pocket deuces. Seed had {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and needed help, and the {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} flop gave him all sorts of outs. The {7-Diamonds} on the river gave Seed even more outs, and with overcards and flush and straight draws the river was the...{5-Hearts}, missing Seed completely and sending him out of the tournament.

But before Seed left he asked the dealer to flip over three more cards, just to see how close he'd been to hitting his hand. Turns out he wasn't close at all--all three cards the dealer showed wouldn't have helped him improve. And with that Seed got up and left the table.

Nick Schulman Has Been Eliminated

Claudio Pagano bet and Nick Schulman raised, with Spencer Lawrence making the call from the small blind. The flop came {6-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {K-Spades} , Lawrence led out, Pagano called, and Schulman went into the tank for a bit before tossing in his last 2,200. The {8-Hearts} came on the turn, Lawrence bet and Pagano called, and he did the same when the {3-Hearts} fell on the river. Lawrence showed {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}, Pagano disgustedly slapped his {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} on the felt, and Schulman quietly mucked and stood up from the table. Lawrence is now up to 87,500.

Lightning Strikes Twice?

Holding {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} to Jerrod Ankenman's {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, Dewey Tomko doubled up when he flopped an ace and Ankenman didn't catch up on the turn or river. "I need to get your name," Tomko said, "This is the second race I've won in two years". It was pointed out that it wasn't exactly a race Tomko won, but the important thing is that he reached the finish line in first place.

Nick Schulman Wins a Pot from Claudio Pagano

Running low on chips, Nick Schulman raised and Claudio Pagano called from the small blind. The flop came{A-Spades} {7-Spades} {6-Spades} and Pagano check-called Schulman's bet. Pagano did the same after the {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {10-Clubs} on the river and Schulman turned over {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} to take the pot. Pagano started to show his cards, then tossed them in the muck.

"Did you have a pair?" Schulman asked, and Pagano nodded. That much-needed win lifted Schulman's stack to 28,000.

Tran Misses the Flush...Literally

J.C. Tran was involved in a three-way hand with Leo Fernandez and Ray Henson. Leo had bet on the flop, turn, and river. Ray let it go by the river, but Tran called Leo's all-in bet after the board came running spades, with the {7-Spades} spiking last. Tran turned over pocket sevens for a set, while Leo held 10-2, no spade.

Tran's set was good, but many players at the table seemed confused why he wasn't worried about the fourth spade. Easy. According to Tran, he didn't realize it made the four-flush when he called.

Table Hockey

Greg Mueller and his table had been discussing various things regarding hockey when Joe Sebok asked Greg what he'd be better at getting away with against Greg; a hipcheck or a crosscheck. Greg smiled and advised him "neither".

Mizzi Doubles Through Tex

Sorel Mizzi just doubled through Tex Barch. Barch had led out preflop and Mizzi raised. Barch called and saw a flop of {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. Barch led out and Mizzi managed to get all his chips in the middle. Mizzi held pocket fours, which held up against Barch's {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Mizzi is up to 13,500, while Barch started a winning streak after the hand and is up to 66,000.
