Greenstein Content to Chop

Frank Thompson just got into a heads-up pot with Barry Greenstein that went to showdown. Greenstein bet it all the way, and Thompson followed his lead on every street, including seventh.

When Barry turned his hand over, it showed ({A-Hearts} {4-Clubs}) {6-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} ({J-Hearts}). He had a six-five low to win that half, and he was surprised to find that his ace high was also good enough to win the low side. He scoops it up and runs his count over the century mark, 108,000.

The Mouth is Gone

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow bet on third and fourth street against Thang Duc Nguyen. Matusow called on fifth and then called all in on sixth showing (X) (X) {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {J-Spades} (X).

When the final cards were dealt and turned up, Matusow held {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {J-Spades} {A-Hearts} {9-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. Nguyen had a low and a high with {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} to scoop the pot.

Matusow has been eliminated.

Frazzled Out of Here

Tim Frazin and Howard Lederer put in a series of raises on third street to get Frazin all in. At the time, Lederer held a pair of eights and Frazin a low draw with {7-?} {5-?} {3-?}.

At the end of the hand, Lederer held {8-?} {5-?} {8-?} {7-?} {A-?} {J-?} {8-?} for trip eights. Frazin held {7-?} {5-?} {3-?} {6-?} {J-?} {7-?} {5-?} for only two pair. Frazin didn't have a low and couldn't even get half the pot to stay alive.

Sung Loses Another

Thang Duc Nguyen just scooped up another pot from Steve Sung, who has been dribbling away some of his chips. In this pot, Nguyen's up cards were {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} and he was starting across at the {7-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} on Sung's board.

Nguyen brought it in and then called a raise from Sung. He led out on fourth and got called, and bet again on fifth and got raised. Nguyen called the raise, and then continued betting out on sixth and seventh, with Sung flat calling him down.

Thang Duc Nguyen turned over his down cards: {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, and his two pair was enough to win him the full pot.

Short Stacks Fight to the Chop

Kirill Gerasimov and Hasan Habib are both dangerously low in chips. They recently tangled in a heads-up pot, getting all their chips in on fourth street.

Habib: ({A-Spades} {7-Diamonds}) {6-Spades} {3-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} ({7-Hearts})
Gerasimov: ({A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}) {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} ({9-Clubs})

Gerasimov takes the high pot with a pair of nines, and Habib has the seven-six low for his half. The players split the pot and neither makes any headway up the scoreboard.

Chop for Kirill and Chau

Kirill Gerasimov completes the bring-in with a {4-Clubs} in the door, and Chau Giang comes along with his {2-Diamonds}.

Gerasimov: (X) (X) {4-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} (X)
Giang: (X) (X) {2-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} (X)

Giang led the betting on fourth street, and Gerasimov called. On fifth, Gerasimov bet, Giang raised, and Gerasimov called. Giang bet again on sixth, getting called, and the action was check-check on seventh.

Gerasimov: {4-Hearts} {6-Spades} {4-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts}
Giang: {A-Spades} {6-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {8-Spades}

The pot is split up as Giang grabs the low with his six-five. Gerasimov's trip fours were good enough to ship him the high half.

Sung Finally Loses One

Steve Sung has been on one hell of a roll lately. According to Mike Matusow, "The kid's been making a flush or full house on every hand that I've been here." It shows with his chip stack swelling to over 300,000.

Marcel Luske is seated right to Sung and his mountain of chips. On this last hand, Marcel was able to make trip deuces against Sung and scoop a big pot. This marked the first hand that we have seen Sung lose in a while.
