Daniel Kraus Eliminated in 16th Place ($7,484)

Daniel Kraus - 16th Place
Daniel Kraus - 16th Place
Limit Hold'em:

First to act and sitting in the small blind, David MacHowsky raises, and he and big blind Daniel Kraus end up with the action capped. At the end of it, Kraus is all in and at risk. He shows down {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and is in trouble versus the {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} of MacHowsky.

The board runs out dry for Kraus: {J-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds}. He fails to improve his hand, and he is out in 16th place.

What's Happening

The pace of play and the amount of confrontational action has dwindled significantly here in the last couple of levels. Up until that point, there was no shortage of action and drama, as players were being eliminated at quite a rapid clip. The one player still pushing his weight around now is Nick Binger, who has a massive chip stack.

Also, there is a small crowd that has gathered here in the Brasilia Room to watch their friends and family play for the final table. The railbirds seem unusually interested and involved in the action, standing on chairs and craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the players.

Dan Druff All In

No-Limit Hold'em:

From under the gun, Todd "Dan Druff" Witteles comes in raising to 8,000. Alex Jalali is the only caller from the big blind. The flop comes {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Jalali checks and Witteles moves all in for his tournament life with 36,200.

Jalali calls, and the hands are shown down. Jalali holds {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} while Witteles reveals his {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}. When the turn and river come {7-Diamonds}, {Q-Diamonds}, Witteles makes a full house and doubles back up over 90,000.

Jeff Norman Eliminated in 17th Place ($7,484)

Jeff Norman - 17th Place
Jeff Norman - 17th Place
Limit Hold'em:

Seated in late position, Jeff Norman opens with a raise. Elliot Smith is in the big blind, and he raises. Norman makes the call. The dealer spreads the first three cards: {A-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. Smith bets, Norman raises, Smith reraises, and Norman calls all in. The hands are turned over:

Smith: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Norman: {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}

Norman is trailing, but he still has some outs to improve. The turn and river blank off for him though, and he is knocked out of our field.

Quyen Nguyen Eliminated in 18th Place ($7,484)

Quyen Nguyen - 18th Place
Quyen Nguyen - 18th Place
Limit Hold'em:

We pick up the action on the flop. The board reads {6-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. Mats Gavatin and Quyen Nguyen are heads up, and the action is capped with four raises, resulting in Nguyen being all in. He shows down {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds} for a set of sixes. Gavatin has that crushed though, turning over {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for the king-high flush. The turn and river come {10-Hearts} and {2-Clubs}, failing to pair the board and provide the help that Nguyen needs. Despite flopping a set, Nguyen got his money in behind, and he heads out in 18th place.

Binger Gets Bigger

Nick Binger raised under the gun, and Todd Witteles called. The flop showed {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs} {K-Clubs}. Binger bet, Witteles raised, and Binger called.

The turn was the {10-Hearts}. Binger checked and let Witteles bet this time. He check-raised him though, and Witteles called.

Fifth street was the {4-Hearts}. Binger bet out, and Witteles mucked his hand. After that pot, Binger has moved up to a massive 390,000, while Witteles is down near the danger zone with 46,000 left.

Michael Binger, the brother of our chip leader, was watching the action from nearby. When he learned Nick's chip count, Michael told us, "I wish I was that good. He crushes peoples' souls."

Limit Hold'em:

From the cutoff seat, Michael Rosenthal opens with a raise. Both blinds, Sam Hiatt and Hien Tran, call. The flop comes {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, and all three players check.

Fourth street is the {10-Diamonds}. Hiatt bets out, Tran folds, and Rosenthal calls.

The river is the {3-Hearts}. Hiatt bets again, and Rosenthal once again calls, this time all in for his tournament life. He shows down {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, but Hiatt shows down the winning {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. His top pair is enough to take the pot and send Rosenthal to the door.

The turn comes the {4-Clubs}. Jalali bets out, Borteh raises, and Jalali calls.

The river is the {J-Diamonds}. Jalali checks over to Borteh who goes all in for his last 8,500. Jalali makes the call and shows {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} for ace high. Borteh can't beat it; he mucks his hand and makes his way to the payout desk.

Tamayo Moving Up

No-Limit Hold'em:

This hand happened just before the break.

From middle position, Jonathan Tamayo raised to 5,300 and Alexander Borteh called from the big blind. The flop came {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {2-Spades} and both players checked.

When the turn fell the {K-Spades}, Borteh checked over to Tamayo. Tamayo bet out 8,000 and Borteh raised to 20,000. Tamayo called.

The river came the {3-Hearts} and Borteh bet 40,000. Tamayo almost beat him into the pot with a call and showed two pair, {K-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. Borteh said he had queen-high and mucked his hand.

This put Tamayo up to 233,500.
