Our 24 remaining players are slowly trickling into the tournament area and taking their seats. 16 of them will make the money, while eight will head home with a $50,000 dent in their wallets.
Today we're situated on three tables in the southeast corner of the Amazon Room's Orange section. The railbirds are stacked five and six deep and their point-and-shoot cameras are out in force as they strain to get shots of their favorite players.
Play should recommence in about five minutes. Stay tuned.
Since we stopped in the middle of a level, the tournament director just drew one game placard to decide which game we would start on. The winner? Stud high.
James Mackey had the bring-in, Ralph Perry completed, Lyle Berman called and Mackey called. Mackey led out on fourth and fifth streets and was called by both players. On sixth, Perry caught an open pair of aces and bet, prompting folds from both Berman and Mackey.
A few hands after he lost most of his stack James Mackey doubled up against Barry Greenstein. Mackey had in the hole and a nine showing against Greenstein's . Greenstein paired his ace on fifth street but Mackey caught a four and his two pair held up. He's now up to 105,000.
Patrick Bueno completed on third street and both Chad Brown and Gabe Kaplan called. On fourth street Bueno bet out, Brown raised, and both Kaplan and Bueno called. On fifth Bueno led again, Brown called all in for his last 1,100 and Kaplan called as well. Sixth street brought a bet from Bueno and a call from Kaplan. Bueno bet out again on seventh and Kaplan folded.
Bueno turned up for a flush. Brown mucked and made his exit in 24th place.
We picked the action up on sixth street, with Davis betting out and Lindgren making the call. On seventh, Davis checked, Lindgren bet and Davis made the call.
Lindgren showed for two pair, kings and queens, and raked in the pot. Davis was left with only 95,000 in chips.
Phil Ivey was all in on third street against Barry Greenstein. Though Greenstein started with split jacks, Ivey had rolled-up deuces. The deuces held and Ivey is now up to 223,000.
