Who Else is Seeing Red?

There are a few other familiar faces in the Red section of the Amazon Room besides Josh Arieh. They include: Vanessa Selbst, Dustin Dirksen, Adam Katz, David Pham and Kido Pham, actor Ray Romano and Raymond Rahme.

My Straight is Bigger Than Yours

Dustin Dirksen, during Event #23.
Dustin Dirksen, during Event #23.
Dustin Dirksen got a bit frisky in late position in a recent hand. With 1,750 in the pot preflop, Dirksen bet 450 on a flop of {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} against two opponents, both of whom called. When the {7-Diamonds} hit the turn, Dirksen checked to an opponent behind him, who bet 1,400. Dirksen was the only caller.

Dirksen checked again when the river bricked. His opponent bet 2,000 and Dirksen called. His opponent showed {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} for a turned straight, but Dirksen turned a bigger straight with {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. He's up to 25,000 in chips.

2007 Main Event Runner-Up Tuan Lam

Tuan Lam
Tuan Lam
Another player we've spotted in today's field is last year's WSOP Main Event runner-up Tuan Lam.

Lam has had twelve months to think about that final hand where he looked set to double up with top pair, only to lose to the running straight of Jerry Yang.

Lam has been quiet on the poker scene since last year's result, but will be looking to go one place better this time around!

In the Mix

Resplendent in a blue button-down shirt with "ITALIA Poker Team" inscribed on the back is Luca Pagano. Also seated today in the Green section are Shawn Rice and John Monnette.

Didn't Like Durrrr Turn

Tom Dwan made a raise from the cut off and found a caller in the shape of Dale Pinchot in the big blind.

The flop came down as {8-Spades} {J-Clubs} {5-Hearts} prompting Dwan to bet once it was checked to him. Pinchot made the call.

The turn came {8-Clubs} and Dwan bet 1,650 when it was checked to him once again. This time though Pinchot raised it up to 5,000 and Dwan called.

Once the river came down as {Q-Diamonds} Pinchot led out for the first time with a 4,500 bet and Dwan called.

Dwan flipped over {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} and wasn't too happy to see Pinchot's {A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} for turned trip eights.

Pichot up to 31,500 as a result. Dwan down to 7,500.

Michael Craig's Appetizer? Devilfish

The Devilfish makes for a tasty treat

Michael Craig opened for a 300 raise and David "Devilfish" Ulliott called from the cutoff. The flop was {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades}. Craig bet 450 and Devilfish called. The turn was the {8-Hearts}. Craig checked, Devilfish bet 1,000 and Craig called. The river was the {9-Clubs}. Craig fired out 1,500 and Devilfish gave it up.

After the hand, Craig was up to 22,000 while Devilfish slipped to 17,200.

Disaster Averted

A player on the button open-raised to 300, and Barry Greenstein reraised to 1,200 from the big blind. The button called.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Greenstein bet 1,200, and his opponent folded, showing pocket eights as he did.

"An A-K-8 flop would've been disaster," remarked Greenstein. He's at 21,000.
