Mixing it Up (or Mixed Up)

Just witnessed kind of a curious hand over at a table at which Hevad Khan, Vivek Rajkumar, and Burt Boutin were sitting. None were involved, but all are still talking about it.

In a PLH hand, a player open-raised to 1,200 from middle position, and only the small blind called. The flop came {10-Spades}

, and before the SB could act the raiser surprisingly tossed his cards into the muck.

All were joking about it afterwards. "You've really opened up your checking range," quipped one player. "Now that you've worked an open-fold into your game."

There's an App for That

David "Chino" Rheem limped from UTG, and it folded back around to Chris "Jesus" Ferguson in the big blind. Ferguson looked up momentarily from his iPod and checked his option.

The flop came {2-Spades}

, and both players checked. The turn was the {J-Spades}

. Ferguson checked, Rheem tossed out a small bet, and Ferguson folded, turning back to his iPod as he did.

"What game are you playing, Chris?" asked Andy Bloch from across the table.

"Chinese," said Ferguson -- indeed, he was playing what appeared to be an application on the iPod. Two games not enough for the Jesus.

Ferguson currently has about 7,000, and Rheem is down to 5,500. Bloch has about 28,000.

Seidel Survives

Dan the Man

In a PLO hand, a player on the button raised, Daniel Negreanu reraised the pot to 2,800 from the blinds, and his opponent called.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}

. Negreanu bet 3,500, his opponent reraised the pot, Negreanu reraised enough to put his opponent all in, and the call was made.

Negreanu showed {A-Clubs}

for top set, and his opponent {A-Spades}

for top two pair. The turn and river didn't change matters, and Negreanu has eliminated another player.

Kid Poker is up over 50,000 now.

A little while ago, David Sklansky won another pot in which his opponent said afterwards that he had misread his hand. "That's the second time in the last 20 minutes that's happened," said Sklansky.

Lee Watkinson -- the one who made the mistake earlier -- asked Sklansky if he'd been taking hypnosis lessons.

Ivey Arrives, Ivey Departs

Phil Ivey just made an appearance over here in Event No. 10. It was brief, but we are able to bring you some details, thanks to our special correspondent Robert Williamson III, who happened to have witnessed everything.

Those of you following Event No. 8, the $2,500 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven event, know that Ivey just minutes ago made it to tomorrow's final table in that one. Having already bought into Event No. 10, Ivey came over to the Brasilia Room to see what he could do with the chips he had left after being blinded off for the first four-and-a-half levels.

According to RW3, Ivey was only here for one hand of PLO. After some preflop action had built up the pot a bit, Ivey got all of his chips in the middle on a flop of J-5-4. Ivey showed A-J-10-8 for a pair of jacks, and his opponent turned over A-A-K-8 for the overpair. The turn was a trey and the river a deuce, and Ivey was out.
