Hansen Hanging Around, But Costing Seif Money

Although he has yet to play any events thus far, Gus Hansen has been hanging around the tournament area saying hello to some of his friends and fellow professionals. When he went over to Gavin Smith's table, Smith informed Hansen that Mark Seif was steaming at him.

"What for?" asked Gus.

"Seif bet twenty grand on you, Tom Dwan, and Patrik against Daniel Negreanu." responded Gavin.

Gus laughed and said, "That was a dumb bet, I'm probably only going to play one event, if that."

"I know." Smith confirmed. "And I don't know if Tom and Patrik are going to play any either."

Negreanu Squeezes a Double Up

Razz

Daniel Negreanu was recently crippled then all in during a hand of Razz and squeezed his final card hoping to improve upon his board of {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. He looked down and found the...{9-Hearts} to make a ninety-seven low.

Negreanu then sweated his opponent's card who was showing {2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Hearts} for a ninety-eight low and would need to improve to eliminate the popular pro. He squeezed out the...{K-Spades} and Negreanu gave a shout of glee at finding a double up to 15,000 chips. Barry Greenstein wandered over to see what all the commotion was about and with tongue-in-cheek reminded Negreanu of the excessive celebration rule.

On the first hand, Nick Frangos raised from the button and only the small blind called. The flop came down {K-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} and Frangos bet after his opponent checked to him. The player folded and Frangos scooped the small pot.

On the next hand, Ylon Schwartz and Nick Frangos saw a flop together. The first three community cards were spread {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} and Schwartz checked. Frangos bet and Ylon folded.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Schwartz checked again. Frangos made another bet and then Schwartz folded.

With those two hands, Frangos bumped himself up to 29,000 chips.

Madsen Quartered

The glass is only 1/4 full for Jeff Madsen
The glass is only 1/4 full for Jeff Madsen
Omaha-8

A player raised and then Jeff Madsen reraised before the flop. The player called. The flop came down {10-Hearts} {4-Spades} {4-Clubs}. Madsen called a bet from his opponent.

Theturn brought the {5-Hearts} and Madsen again called a bet from his opponent. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Madsen made one final call. His opponent tabled {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for a low and trip fours. Madsen tabled just a low with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Diamonds}. The problem was, it was the same low as his opponent. That meant Madsen would only scoop a quarter of the pot.

Madsen is now down to 18,000 chips.

Hold'em

With a short-stacked Perry Friedman all in before the flop was dealt, Tim Finne and John Juanda didn't slow down in the side pot once they took a look at the {8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} board.

The action was capped before the {3-Diamonds} hit the turn. Lake led out and Juanda raised, with Finne slowing down and flat calling. The river was the {2-Hearts} and Juanda bet again with Finne making the call.

Juanda showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a flopped set but Finne tabled {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flush which was good as Friedman raised his eyebrows, mucked his cards and headed to the rail. Juanda is down to 22,000 as Finne moves up to 105,000.

Stud

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson just scooped a massive pot during the latest round of stud on his table. His two opponents in the hand were Jeff Madsen and Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri. Here's how the boards looked.

Ferguson: (X-X) {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades} {K-Diamonds} (X)

Barbieri: (X-X) {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} (X)

Barbieri led the betting on fourth after Madsen checked. Ferguson called and then Madsen called as well. On fifth and sixth street, the same action occurred. On seventh, Madsen first checked, then Barbieri checked behind. Ferguson fired a bet and both players called.

Ferguson showed three hearts in the hole with the {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and both his opponents mucked after not being able to best Ferguson's flush.

Ferguson - 82,000
Barbieri - 70,000

Stud-8

Mike Watson is progressing well today and just added a few more chips to his stack in a recent Stud-8 hand despite it being chopped.

Watson led the betting against two opponents before the river was check-raised, causing the player stuck in the middle to fold.

Watson: ({4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}) {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: ({Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Clubs}) {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Watson and his opponent seemed content enough to chop up the third player's chips as Watson moves up to around 65,000 chips.
