Croc Update

Billy "The Croc" Argyros
Billy "The Croc" Argyros
Billy "The Croc" Argyros is one of Australia's greatest tournament performers and best H.O.R.S.E players, having won both of the first two major H.O.R.S.E tournaments in the country.

However his day hasn't gone too well so far today. He just told us that he lost two big pots when favorite to the aggressive Toto Leonidas during Razz which took half his stack. He's down to 13,000 chips and looking forward to a break.

Negreanu Set To Multi-Table

Daniel Negreanu was overheard chatting with his table about the No Limit Deuce-To-Seven Draw World Championship Event which is set to kick off later this afternoon.

Negreanu said that even though he is "terrible" at the game, he will register as it will most likely be the smallest field of any WSOP event this year, and therefore one of the best chances to win a bracelet. However he'll have to bust from this event first, which at the moment seems to be a long way off as he's well placed with 53,000 chips.

Meanwhile the line is being discussed for how many entrants will enter the event. While one of our switched on reporters locked in a nice side bet on over 55, Negreanu's table thinks the line should be closer to 80.

Bad Play = Chip Dumping

Barry Greenstein just won a big pot from John Juanda and another player where he basically doubled up to 45,000. After the hand, Juanda turned to Daniel Negreanu and told him he just doubled Greenstein up. Negreanu looked over at the table and said, "Oh no, they're chip dumping."

"He played that hand so bad he may have been chip dumping." responded Greenstein.

Micon Busts

Stud

Bryan Micon was all in on fourth street against David Chiu. Micon's hand ran out {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {5-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} against Chiu's {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}-X. Micon couldn't best Chiu's aces and tens and busted from the tournament. Chiu is up to 30,000.

Amaral Extends Lead

Stud

After Chris Amaral fired bets on fourth and fifth street, Marcel Luske took over on sixth street before the river was checked down. The boards were tabled as follows:

Amaral: {J-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} ({9-Clubs}-X-X)
Luske: {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} ({6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts})

Amaral showed a pair of nines but it was good as Luske could only muster up a pair of sixes. Our chip leader extends his lead to 73,000.

Micon Survives Razz

Razz

Bryan Micon has doubled up through Chau Giang in a recent hand of Razz. The short-stacked Micon was all in on third street with the boards running out as follows:

Giang: {6-?}{4-?}{A-?}{8-?}{Q-?}{10-?}-X
Micon: {7-?}{8-?}{2-?}{6-?}{J-?}{5-?}{9-?}

Micon makes an eight-low which is good for the double up to 8,000 chips.

Smith Doing the Rounds

Gavin Smith
Gavin Smith
Despite still being alive in this tournament, Gavin Smith is taking some time to do the rounds of the room and chat to a few buddies. He stopped by the table of Daniel Negreanu which is near to our blogging desk, and we overheard snippets of conversation that involved Smith describing what may have been YouTube videos where "some dude" was demonstrating his athletic prowess by jumping clean into the back of a moving truck, and then jumped clean out of a waist-high pool onto the pool deck. While we doubt that is even possible, we hope Smith isn't thinking of any prop bets!

Negreanu replied that he hadn't seen the videos to which Smith unleashed the pearler, "Man you gotta stop running so deep in tournaments so that you can start watching this kinda shit!!"

One Brunson Short, While The Other Rests

Doyle Brunson
Doyle Brunson
Hold'em

Todd Bruson was looking for a spot to gamble and double up and thought he'd found it on a {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. Brunson had three-bet preflop and with only small change behind, he fired on the flop, but looked disgusted when his opponent folded. Bruson flashed the {4-Hearts} and will need to hit a few more flops to build up his 6,600 chip stack.

Meanwhile it appears that Doyle Brunson is conserving energy for a long day ahead. He's lowering his cowboy hat and appears to be taking power naps in between hands.
