Jacob Jolt

Alex Jacob
Alex Jacob
Alex Jacob had built a stack up over 30,000, but just now suffered a setback.

An opponent had gotten all of his chips in with {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} versus Jacob's {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and Jacob is back down to 14,000.

Madsen the Machine

Jeff Madsen had put in a preflop raise, then was facing a reraise the calling of which would put him all in. "I'm gambling," he said, as he called and turned over K-Q.

He was behind his opponent's A-6, but a queen flopped and Madsen's hand held. "You are a gambling machine," quipped Phil Hellmuth afterwards.

Madsen's now up to 14,500.

Glines Dodges Cowboys

Shawn Glines raised to 950 from under the gun, and it folded to a player in middle position who reraised to 2,950. The table quickly folded back to Glines, who didn't take long to fold as well. His opponent showed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} as he dragged the chips, and Glines nodded.

Glines has about 13,500.

More for Mackey

Dennis Phillips limped in from under the gun, and it folded back around to James Mackey who completed from the small blind. The player in the big blind checked, and the flop came {3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The blinds checked to Phillips who bet 1,100. Mackey then check-raised to 3,000. The BB folded, and after a bit of thought Phillips folded as well.

Mackey is up to 9,500. Phillips has 14,500.

Hellmuth Finds His Seat, Gets Comfortable

Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth returned from the break and initially started to sit down at the table where he'd been just prior to being moved right before dinner. He was redirected, and finally found his correct seat at a table with Vanessa Rousso, Jeff Madsen, and a yet-to-arrive David Singer.

"What are the blinds?" said Hellmuth, the action on him for his first hand back. He raised to 1,200, winning the antes and blinds. Madsen had folded from the small blind. "I'd have called you Madsen if you shipped it," said Hellmuth. Madsen is currently down to about 6,000.

On the next hand, Hellmuth limped in, and he and the big blind saw a flop of {J-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Both checked. The turn was the {9-Hearts}. The BB checked, Hellmuth tossed out a bet of 500, and his opponent folded.

Singer arrived, taking the seat to Hellmuth's left, and the Poker Brat immediately narrated the previous hand to him.

Hellmuth limped again the third hand back, but folded when the player on the button pushed all in for 3,150 total. Hellmuth has about 24,000 at the moment. Rousso has 8,500, and Singer 31,000.

Dinner Break

Players have just left on a 90-minute dinner break. When they return, they will play four more one-hour levels before play concludes tonight.

Brenes Beat

Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes
With about 2,000 in the middle and the flop having come {Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, a player in the hijack seat bet 1,550, and Humberto Brenes quickly called from the button. The turn was the {4-Clubs}. This time the first player to act bet 3,550, and again Brenes quickly called.

The river was the {A-Hearts}, and both players checked. Brenes' opponent turned over {K-Spades}{9-Spades} for kings, and Brenes mucked. The Shark has about 7,500 as we near the dinner break.

Scott Skirts Skirmish

A player in middle position raised to 300, the player to his left reraised to 950, and Scott Montgomery, fifth-place finisher in last year's WSOP Main Event, called from the cutoff. It folded back to the original raiser who called as well.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}. It checked to Montgomery, who thought for ten seconds before tapping the table as well. The turn was the {2-Clubs}, and the first player to act fired out 2,000, causing both of his opponents to fold.

Montgomery has 8,200.
