Russian on March

Alex on the up
Alex on the up
Alex Kravchenko opened the pot with a raise from MP and then called a three-bet from the cut-off. The {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} {6-Hearts} flop saw Kravchenko check raise his opponent only to be raised back. He called to see the {10-Diamonds} turn, where he check-called as he did on the {K-Hearts} river.

He showed {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} for the pot and he opponent mucked. The Russian up to 50,000 now.

Mueller Runs Out of Fuel

No back to back Limit Hold'em titles for this Mueller -- the world champion is bust.

He didn't have that many chips coming back today anyway, to be honest, and he dwindled and dwindled until there was nothing left. Still, he's got his first place money and bracelet from the $10,000 event to console himself with.

Strath Man

Henric Strath won a pot without a showdown and then lost one soon after. Robert Laberge laid down to a Strath bet on a {2-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} board in the first hand.

The second hand saw Strath three-bet an opponent's UTG raise but then folded to a check raise on a {9-Spades} {10-Spades} {2-Spades} flop.

Mixed bag so far for Strath who's on 32,000.

Keating Up Appearances

We have a new chip leader -- Alex Keating is currently dangerously close to breaking that magic 100,000 mark. He's on exactly 96,000 right now, and very definitely the chip daddy in this tournament.

Daniel Takes a Dip

After a good chip-accruing start, Daniel Negreanu has dipped back down to around 18,000.

He reraised preflop and continued to play the {J-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {4-Spades} flop and {K-Clubs} turn aggresively. He and his opponent just checked the {K-Spades} river, though, and Negreanu mucked when his opponent turned over {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

Hanging Your Man

Tommy Hang raised from the cut off and then called a three-bet from the button to see a {K-Spades} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} flop. The button bet, Hang three-bet, the button four bet and Hang called before the turn came {5-Clubs}.

A bet from Hang and a call, then the river came {2-Clubs}. Another bet and a call was the order of the day. Hang turned over {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for the pot as his opponent mucked. He's up to 70,000 now.

Good Start for Strath

Henric Strath outdrew a monster:

Henric flopped the nuts with {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and check-raised the {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts} flop. His opponent called, and continued to call Strath's bets all the way down the {6-Hearts} turn and {K-Hearts} river -- only to turn over defeated pocket aces at the end of it all.

The fortunate Strath is up to 38,000.

Rafe's Furst.

Rafe Furst raised from UTG and was called in MP and the BB before a {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs} flop came down. Furst bet when checked to him and then called the MP's raise with the BB ducking out of the way. The turn {J-Diamonds} saw Furst check-raise his opponent and it did the trick as he folded.

Baker Takes the Biscuit

Overnight chip leader David Baker has taken a pot out of the paws of fellow overnight big stack Simen Sagstuen.

Baker raised preflop and called Sagstuen's reraise. Baker check-called the {9-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} flop and checked again on the {10-Clubs} turn. This time when Sagstuen bet though Baker raised, and Sagstuen laid it down.

Baker is up to 75,000.
