Two thousand seven hundred fifteen players put up their buyins for today's event, generating an impressive total prizepool of $3,705,974. That money will be divided amongst the final 270 players with the bottom payout level being a respectable $2,890.
The top 18 spots are worth at least $25,000, and each of the nine final tablists will be guaranteed just over $80,000. Moving up from there, the top six will all take home triple digit cashes with the runner-up prize being worth just over $400,000. The lucky man or woman who outlasts the entire field and collects every chip in play three days from now will pocket $657,969 and a handy dandy gold bracelet.
It's taken the better part of eight hours of play, but the tournament has finally consolidated into a single section of the Amazon Room - the Blue Section. Gone are the Miranda Tables. The Brasilia tables are also no more. Even Amazon Orange has emptied out. We have 50 tables of players all located in the Blue section, which should make it slightly easier to track the remaining players.
Kathy Liebert was mixed up in what would become a big pot, heads-up and in position. On a flop of , the player in the small blind checked, and Liebert checked behind.
The turn card came the . The small blind led out with a bet of 10,000 even, and Liebert moved all in for her last 23,200. After just a quick second of thought, the small blind called, having Kathy covered by just 1,200.
He showed down for top-top, but Liebert had the leading for two pair. To her demise though, the river was an untimely to give her opponent the winning trip aces and send her out the door.
A player in late position opened with a raise to 2,000, and Dean Bui made the call from the big blind.
The flop brought out . Bui plunked a big stack of covering chips into the pot, and his opponent called all in, tabling . Bui's had flopped two pair, positioning him for the knockout. The turn added a big sweat as it gave the at-risk player an open ender. The river was a blank though, the , and Bui's three pair took it down. He's now on 30,000.
Just as we spotted Alexandre Gomes' new table in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room, he moved all in for his last 6,000 chips. A player two seats to his left called with ; Gomes showed and the race was on.
There was no help for anyone on a flop of . The turn took away Gomes' outs to a queen, and it was a good thing for his opponent; the hit on the river to give Gomes top pair and to make a queen-high straight for his opponent. With that, Gomes said a few words to a friend at a nearby table and left.
With a myriad of limpers in front of him, Matt "allinat420" Stout shoved the rest of his short stack into the middle with offsuit. The second limper had snuck in with , and he made the call to put Stout in danger. The board ran out dry, and Stout couldn't pick up a pair to save his tournament life.
