Sabat Kicked Out the Door

Eddy Sabat has been rocking the short stack after a couple of wicked beats before dinner. After one opponent opened for 1,050, Sabat moved in for 6,000 with {A-Spades}

. He was called by the initial raiser, who tabled {A-Clubs}

. The

flop gave everyone a good sweat. In the end, even though clubs always come, it wasn't a club that did Sabat in -- it was the {Q-Hearts}

river.

When we passed by Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri a few hours before dinner (over in the Brasilia Room), he had chipped up to about 60,000 chips. Al's got about half of those chips now, and he looks a bit worse for the wear. He's slumping in his seat, putting his head down into the crook of his arm and grabbing his hair. Sometimes, a day of playing no-limit hold'em will do that to a person.

Shorr Heads For the Door

Shannon Shorr and Mike Caro were both all in before the flop with very short stacks, and a third player called them both down to put two at risk. Shorr held {K-Clubs}

, Caro had {A-Hearts}

, and the would-be double eliminator turned over {A-Clubs}

.

An ace flopped, but Caro ran down two pair on a board of {3-Diamonds}

. With that, the Mad Genius has nearly tripled up to just over 5,000, sending Shannon Shorr to the exit.

Serebryakov Takes a Big Step Forward

With a small raise already in the pot, Evengy Serebryakov reraised to about 4,500 from middle position. A few seats over, a player in late postion considered for an eternity before moving all in for just about 20,000. The first raiser folded, but Serebryakov quickly called, turning over pocket kings. His opponent frowned and frustratingly tabled two queens.

The board ran {4-Spades}

, and Serebryakov's kings held up. He's knocked off a player, increasing his stack up to a very healthy 60,500.

Triple or Nothing

With the action folded around to him on the button, an animated player in a bright yellow Brazil shirt moved all in for his last 4,200. Next to him, the small blind wasted no time calling. Brandon Cantu was last to act out of the big blind, and he was not nearly so quick to act. He sat in the tank for several minutes, counting down his stack and doing the math in his head. "Triple me up!" yelled Brazil. Finally, Cantu moved all in himself for a total of 6,175. The small blind quickly called to put both opponents at risk of elimination.
